Acura’s Performance & Racing Spirit Comes to SEMA in Style

2017 Acura MDX / NSX GT3 / Custom Trailer

Usually when race cars are transported from point A to point B, they’re often found in an enclosed trailer or better yet – inside the trailer of an 18-wheeler. Acura are bringing their NSX GT3 racer to SEMA this week and they had a very different idea. They’re going to load it up on a custom-fabricated trailer tailored to match the NSX GT3. Not only does it look absolutely fantastic, but it’s also hydraulically powered to lower and raise to make loading/unloading a breeze without scraping the NSX’s underbody.

The NSX GT3 will be making its racing debut next year competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Pirelli World Challenge. The GT3 will be powered by the same twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 as the production model, but without the hybrid system. Horsepower is said to be right around the 500 mark. Instead of the 9-Speed DCT, the NSX GT3 comes with a 6-Speed sequential gearbox which will be putting down power to the rear wheels.

The tow vehicle of choice? A brand new 2017 MDX sporting identical racing livery as the NSX GT3 along with a variety of modifications to give it some extra flare. The MDX has been lowered 1 & 3/4 inches, suspension bits have been blacked out, and the brake calipers have been painted orange just like the NSX GT3. It’s also rocking 20-inch wheels and tires straight from Acura’s Genuine Accessory catalog and just for fun – a front air splitter that’s been carbon wrapped with a bit of orange along the edges just like the NSX’s.

Acura not only wanted to match the MDX to the NSX GT3, but also to show the brand’s complete custom race experience as mentioned by Dave Marek, Acura’s Executive Creative Director.

2017 Acura TLX with GT Package

Along with the MDX & NSX GT3, Acura are also bringing a TLX equipped with their new GT Package, which will be available at dealerships nationwide. With the GT Package, your TLX will be fitted with a front spoiler, side sill garnishes, rear decklid spoiler, and rear underbody spoiler. An optional 19-inch Diamond Cut wheel & tire package will also be available for purchase.
