preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
What’s up guys. Well I had a build thread on here a while ago, and apparently it got deleted. So I’ll start it over. Got this car back in 08 as a gold loaner car for Vern Eide Body Shop. Got it for a steal! We sprayed the exterior and around the d17 in the engine bay. Put some lowering springs, 17inch wheels, F7 lca’s, subframe brace and ITR sway bar on. Drove it like that for a couple years as my daily. Then I got the itch to do a K. started it in March 2010 and finished the swap June 25th and brought it to IA. Needless to say that was the turning point for my coupe, cause it’s been down ever since we got back from IA that year. Enjoy!
here's how i got it. painted it just to get me going with the D in it.
and here's some of the K stuff.
got the karcepts ac and ps removal kit on.
did a custom air bag delete tray
no more automatic
before adding TB
after adding TB
the trans i'll be using, DC5 5spd.
gotta few updates that i think you guys might like, enjoy it's not quite done, jsut need some wire sleeving and it's complete! ran into a problem making our own brake lines, so i gotta get the dx lines and the brakes will be good!
and my favorite part so far, the polished hasport mounts my dad polished for me, mirror face
well, after about an hour, a few choice words, and some maneuvering, got the motor in subframe on, mounts tight, clutch line on, shift cables on and interior harness plugged back in. will get more done tonight. here's some pics, enjoy and btw the valve cover is gonna be painted just an fyi lol

well since i live in SD and we like to heavily use the salt during the winters my suspension setup got a little beat up so i thought i'd give it all a little freshening up while my car is down, and got it all 3M undercoated.
got the bumper support on, the radiator on, it's a mishimoto but you can't see it cause of the support can't wire in the fans yet until i get my harness!
and then got one half of my headlight harness tucked, just gotta wrap it and that's done. so were getting close!
everything is better with pictures!
well guys, got some awesome updates, took about 2 hours to get the car running, too rich, too lean, O2 was wired wrong, then map sensor bad, then throttle stop issues, then it finally idled right. what an awesome feeling to drive that beast
first time the car has seen sunlight since the swap started lol. was much needed!
and another shot!
and another up close shot, engine bay needs a tad bit more work to get the way i want, some wiring stuff and tuck a few things. but there it is.
and the most important, the open header video, my first test drive, and the first time my car as a manual
those are just a couple shots of the temporary wire tuck, with heater hose removal. need to bed the fuel line down so it's somewhat hidden away. got a little more work to do
my favorite, circuit hero shift extender with PWJDM delrin shift ****, such a great feel and at the perfect height!
well, got my harness all nicely tucked for now, nothing great but it'll do just fine for now. spent $50 at Ace harware replacing all the bolts on the motor with allen heads, shortened and hid one of my ground wires from the head to the frame, did some DIY fender washers, looks bitchin got my hood, fenders, and mirrors repainted due to rock chips. last week i came up $40 short of buying kpro so i gotta get that next friday. next tuesday i get to drive my car to my buddy's shop to get my exhaust welded up i'm pumped! i took a few pictures. nothin special, but i was bored and i love my bay lol. enjoy!
well did a little work tonight, cleaned my engine bay up a little, got one of my firewall plugs in, i still need my factory engine harness grommet, and i can't find it anywhere got my behind my bumper all cleaned up from my coolant leak, and most importantly, got my intake all built exhaust gets done tomorrow, and kpro should show up friday or monday at the latest!
the first 3 pics are of the baller spoon TB i just got on and the rest are just a random photo shoot in a parking ramp while we had a nasty storm
now onto the random shoot. 2 02-04 rsx type-s, 1 05 rsx type s, and well then my KEM2
well it made it to Import Alliance that's a huge update! no vids yet. running it at our street legals event at our track on friday. i'll have some videos of it then!
few randoms of along the way lol, also a few were taken out of our hotel screen window which is why they're blurry lol

my buddy justin doin work in his ek
my buddy zach's blaze red B16 coupe

my buddy danny helping me get the motor ready to be pulled
i had a mystery oil leak that made a mess of the front of the block
and there it stops for now. stay tuned these updates will come quite frequently, motor will be pulled and built soon, it'll be a process over the winter. we'll see if some interior work can be done too. 5lug, wheels and some exterior mods will be happening as well just be patient lol.

Re: preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
here's what we got done tonight
started by pulling my buddy dan's ITR
and of course couldn't leave my interior alone
and then we decided to take my motor out too while we were at it
and of course you KEM2 guys know this is a careful process in these tight bays lol
and it's back out
tomorrow were gonna work to get the trans off, head off, and start disassembling the block
sup guys. got a few small updates. been tryin to get the winter/daily car going. but i still find time to work on the coupe. enjoy!
got the motor all stripped down and cleaned up, ready for the installation of new parts
dropped the headliner and sunroof so i can wrap the headliner in some new fabric. oops found more gold i need to cover lol
tore apart my interior harness to eliminate the srs wiring and other misc stuff i didn't need
just need to throw on the braided sleeving and it's done
put the dash support back in to figure out where i'll put the fuse box that is easy to get at
i think i found where the fuse box will go. just gotta figure out how to make the bracket for it.

Re: preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
i know these aren't much for updates but i've been working on the dash harness, and interior harness to make sure all the wiring is set there, and workin on suede wrapping the dash and headliner. will also be dying the interior pieces black. so for now it's gonna be small updates until i can start piecing together my motor parts.
got rid of that ugly chunk of aluminum on the top of the water pump housing since i have the A/C P/S removal kit and don't use that upper pulley. dad got a little carried away with the sander and buffer
got the half shaft all cleaned up and wire wheeled
you'll never see it, but i got the vtec solenoid cover too lol
the tranny all complete finally, what a pain lol
that's all for now, just waiting on some other little stuff to finish some misc stuff.
well i finally found my camera, so i thought i'd upload some pics. got some updates that should've been up a few weeks ago, and some that i got done today. enjoy.
got my SeenIt banner and shirt, gotta support the dudes!
Bolt Boys engine kit, thanks to Frank
gaskets, seals and some bolts from Honda
did a little work to the K24 upper coolant housing, can't leave anything alone lol
installed some allen head hardware on the water pump housing
and onto the stuff i got done today. like it or hate it, got the headliner wrapped
and the start of the suede dash wrap. it's not the legit authentic alcantara suede, but i didn't feel like spending $100 a yard.
got the dash baking in the booth

Re: preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
for the past few weeks i did some bay work. got the seam sealer off, wire wheeled the strut towers, tried laying a thin bead of sealer around the strut towers, but it never cured, so i've been working at getting all that back off and priming and sanding and priming workin at getting the wire wheel marks out. well here's how it is so far.
that's all for now. it's been too damn cold lately so i haven't got much work done. just kinda waiting for the weather to clear up so it can go to the body shop. hopefully in a couple weeks!
here's one very tiny update lol. gotta package from Frank in the mail today. Bolt Boys chassis kit, license plate bolts, and 2 more VC spikes i forgot to get when i originally got the spikes lol
and then one of the collection of Bolt Boys stuff i have just waiting to go on lol
got my custom dash plugs in, here's the pasenger side. not sure if i wanna put anything in there, like a USB port for Kpro, or a battery cut off switch, or somethin
here's the drivers side, where the Defi oil pressure gauge will go
some more parts from work. flywheel bolts, halfshaft bolts, gas tank fuel tube cover with clips, spool valve filter, and EM1 brake prop valve for the 5lug.
got strut towers and all bare metal primes, not perfect but it'll prevent rust. also taped off all the holes i won't be needing.
repainted the shifter box and polished and cleared the shifter. and new PS hard lines for the top of the rack. the other ones were all corroded and nasty lookin.
and lastly i got the headliner in. i'm unsure about it, hopefully once the full interior is in it'll look better.
that's all for now. nothin major, but i do what i can waiting to go to the body shop.
Hard parking the beater!
well it's been super cold here, and i haven't wanted to work on the car, but today i went to the body shop and got some interior pieces dyed. enjoy
SEM interior paint, $12 a can, little spendy but very well worth it
Frank sent me my bolt boys brake fittings!
just need to order the lines and i can get those buttoned up! stay tuned for some more updates

Re: preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
it came with the DC5R front lca's, but i'll be running the type s lca's since there not as wide. i was going to look into doing a "custom" style brake setup with those brembo's but then i said eh eff it, i'll just run the full setup lol. i'm unsure on which e-brake lines are used in this. took a couple pics of the setup tonight. also got some brake lines for my brake tuck, and ordered RSX-S trailing arms today as well.
this one is to just show the size of the caliper lol
that's what i got for now, i'm gonna try the aircraft stripper in a can and brush it on, the paint is quite thick on the brembo's. also got some rsx type-s trailing arms from our local junkyard. need to be powdercoated!
and got some rsx type-s e-brake cables
that's what i got for now guys!
brembo's all stripped ready for paint!
rear calipers all ready as well
got type s knuckles from a local junkyard, and within minutes me and a guy at work had the hubs out, wheel bearings out and ball joints out lol. ready for sandblast and powdercoat
got the front lca's as well, those are ready for the same treatment
and then one of my baby sitting there lonely and super dirty
DC5R cat-back exhaust from ICB. they say it has 5000km on it, but it looks like it only has 10km on it. this thing is super minty. i'm so happy with it.
resonator has one small dent on it.
the tip is like the size of my fist. a nice clean larger oem tip.
such a buttery clean tip
only because you don't come across your own name as a town that often :D
Black DC5 ITR carpet, camera doesn't show that it's black or super mint!
S2K brake booster and master cylinder thanks to Mr_Fobster!
Bolt Boys mount bolts, and trans bell housing bolts!
New Hasport 70A urethane inserts
thanks to Raul for the checkerd stuff!
the only thing i can test fit for now lol
and last but not least the S2K clutch master cylinder
that's all for now, got a couple more parts that should be here this week! Enjoy
some stuff from Jeg's, 10 pack of -6an cushion line clamps for my fuel lines for under the car, and a banjo bolt and fitting for my S2K brake master cylinder since it's so close to the strut tower.
thanks to Frank, yet again lol, Bolt Boys clutch line
was an enjoyable wait for these bad boys!

Re: preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
6 spikes for my strut tower, 2 spikes for the brake master cylinder to booster, and banjo bolt and fitting for the mastter cylinder, and what the hell, a shirt too lol
Opak Racing Titanium strut tower bar, this bad boy weighs a mere 32oz!.
love the blue gold tint!
idk why i just liked this, just looks very durable, and beefy
well, once again got some tiny updates, still haven't made it to the body shop i'm super **** and wasn't liking how the front suede part of my dash was bubbling up already, so i peeled it off, cleaned the adhesive and sprayed it with SEM trim paint. i love the 2tone scheme on it.
also had Nick at SeenIT build me a couple cans, overflow and mini catch can for the port on the front of the water pump housing, no more oil in the intake manifold! these things turned out super good!
it's gonna get mounted in that hole right above the tab.
and just for kicks
and i got all the holes marked off that i don't need anymore
trailing arms, 5lug knuckles, brake stuff, ps rack, bunch of random crap lol
had to take the dash support out for this, again lol
all the holes i don't need are wire wheeled, just got the firewall to do and the welding can begin
and this is where she sleeps at nights
DC5R booster and master cylinder from Fei-Long at N1, great shape, and always love workin with those guys.
also my Acura parts showed up, rsx wheel bearings, rsx front and rear endlinks, rsx inner and outer tie rods, and oem motor mount bolts.
and here we go for the engine bay stuff.
also got the bumper all ready for prime and paint
here's all the holes i need to keep
sorry i don't have pics of the actual welding, but i got off work and my pops was already welding lol
grinding is all done
got the fiberglass filler laid down
got the thin filler laid down and sanded
and it's primed, ready for scuffing and remove orange peel
also don't have a pic of this, but got the new upper radiator support welded on, much stiffer now, the other one was a little flimsy
all the oem seam sealer was removed and replaced with self leveling seam sealer and laid down much smoother and better than oem.
all the primer sanded down, and as smooth as i feel a bay should be lol. i'm **** but but THAT ****, it's just a bay, and the EM2 bays are a tad odd shaped lol
first base coat was the normal NSX blue.
and then pops mixed up something special for me, we tossed in a brilliant silver metallic, the highest metallic silver standox has, and then threw in a red pearl to cut down on the green hue it had. so it's still the same color blue, just a ton more metallic
now onto the clear!
and idk if you can see it, but there'e the metallic, looks much better in person.
and re-undercoated the interior for good measure lol
and got the bolts welded to mount the prop valve
got the ps rack on, for the last time lol
subframe cleaned up and put back on
got the brake lines done, started bending with a bender, got frustrated and just started doing them by hand, no kinks, they clear everything and will be hidden
better look at them
shot of the ITR carpet in, and ecu mount painted for stealth
got the cans that Nick made for me all painted up
first i got the rear trailing arm/knuckle energy suspension bushing set, and the front lower control arm set as well
hardrace rear camber kit. these things look sick!
anyone guess what's in here?
BuddyClub front lower ball joints
got the interior plastics in
everything minus dash for up front is in. got carpet all trimmed and placed in. since the rsx is 2inches shorter than the em2's i had to cut parts of the carpet to get it to fit right. but it's in there. also got my battery box all bolted down. i personally think for weight-wise it's placed perfectly.
and here's the other side. can't really see it tho
got my cometic head gasket, .027" thick
BNIB type s oil pump, love it
oil pan baffle and hardware lower oil chain, lower oil chain guides with hardware, water pump gaskets.
and the type s water pump and housing and oil cooler thanks to 1320WhtRex
BNIB ITR crank pulley, shirt and sticker, big  to Raul @ Checkerdsports. always helps me out.
Blueprint head studs
this started out as a nightmare, first bushing to remove was a bitch due to the fact that i wasn't sure how to do it, but once i got that one done the other 3 were a breeze
also got them all scuffed and painted satin black

also my Acura parts showed up, rsx wheel bearings, rsx front and rear endlinks, rsx inner and outer tie rods, and oem motor mount bolts.
and here we go for the engine bay stuff.
also got the bumper all ready for prime and paint
here's all the holes i need to keep
sorry i don't have pics of the actual welding, but i got off work and my pops was already welding lol
grinding is all done
got the fiberglass filler laid down
got the thin filler laid down and sanded
and it's primed, ready for scuffing and remove orange peel
also don't have a pic of this, but got the new upper radiator support welded on, much stiffer now, the other one was a little flimsy
all the oem seam sealer was removed and replaced with self leveling seam sealer and laid down much smoother and better than oem.
all the primer sanded down, and as smooth as i feel a bay should be lol. i'm **** but but THAT ****, it's just a bay, and the EM2 bays are a tad odd shaped lol
first base coat was the normal NSX blue.
and then pops mixed up something special for me, we tossed in a brilliant silver metallic, the highest metallic silver standox has, and then threw in a red pearl to cut down on the green hue it had. so it's still the same color blue, just a ton more metallic
now onto the clear!
and idk if you can see it, but there'e the metallic, looks much better in person.
and re-undercoated the interior for good measure lol
and got the bolts welded to mount the prop valve
got the ps rack on, for the last time lol
subframe cleaned up and put back on
got the brake lines done, started bending with a bender, got frustrated and just started doing them by hand, no kinks, they clear everything and will be hidden
better look at them
shot of the ITR carpet in, and ecu mount painted for stealth
got the cans that Nick made for me all painted up
first i got the rear trailing arm/knuckle energy suspension bushing set, and the front lower control arm set as well
hardrace rear camber kit. these things look sick!
anyone guess what's in here?

Re: preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
got the lca bushings out too, just have the trailing arm ones to do and i can sent the lca's, trailing arms, and knuckles off to powdercoat.
and here was my christmas present to myself 05 tsx shortblock. gonna do 09 tsx pistons and new bearings and have a fresh bottom end.
it's a little dirty, looks like it had a few oil leaks, but nothing some brake clean and a wire wheel can't fix!
well got some more fun parts in today from Vintage Honda
here's 4dr loaded up with everything and the shortblock lol
what could this be........
new graphite black carpet! i hated the way my ITR carpet fitted(minus the part about the rhd part) my plastics didn't fit well, the carpet just seemed cheap. definitely don't think it was real lol
i know it's the wrong color, but this was the only color available that i could get. OEM optional sideskirts. the lip kit is becoming not available so i ahd to snag it now.
and OEM optional front lip. these both are getting painted obviously lol.
just a very small update, but i was excited to receive this.
big thanks to Colin for giving me the hookup! love these little things!
got a small update, last summer i sold my EP3 seats to a friend because i thought i was getting some Recaro's, but i realized i just needed to get my car done, well he sold them to his cousin so i bought them back for the same price i sold them lol
and here's one just of the car looking lonely in my tiny unit
home sweet home inside our honda garage! not pictured is my eg 4dr, dad's pilot and sisters em2 lol
here's my coupe's partner, brother-in-law's EJ8
04 rsx type-s had a clean up pnp, 3angle valve job, blueprint flat face valves, oem valve guides, blueprint springs, retainers, and seals. for now just rocking type-s cams until i can afford something beefier.
2012 si pistons and rings
been getting the manifold ready for powdercoat, getting rid of casting seams, rounding off some sharp corners, and it had scratches on it that are gone now, also cleaning up the spots where factory studs and monifold cover mounts. wasn't happy with them.
also my brother in law got my suspension stuff sandblasted and to save money i had it POR 15'd instead of powdercoat. and got my ball joints, wheel bearings, hubs, and front lca bushings in.
got an 18"x33foot roll of dynamat. gonna make the car a little more comfortable to drive
got a steel weld bung for the brake booster and an aluminum weld bung for the water pump housing
got my DIY ss brake line stuff for the master cylinder to firewall.
banjo bolts for the master cylinder, still waiting on the banjo's
manifold prep is complete and ready for powdercoat!
i wasn't liking just having the rubber cap over this nipple, so i removed it, drilled it, tapped it and plugged it with hondabond and a bolt, since i'll be running a mini catch can to the water pump, hence the weld bung
and voila, got my large parts order from ryan at AFH! there's so much **** in here i don't wanna list it all lol. nuts, bolts, few sensors, injectors, timing chain guides, crv mount bracket. and much more lol
first off got some DEI header heat wrap. may be a bit overkill but i got 100ft lol. plan on getting that done in a few weeks.
new oem valve guide, Rexthermal sent me a freshly machined built head that had a chipped valve guide :hmm:
a buddy of mine has a media blaster so i did my chain cover, water pump housing and oil pan. i was gonna leave them raw like that but i think i may just wire wheel them. i don't wanna paint it.
got all my dynamat laid down, just need to do around my door speakers still. waiting on my Matco heat gun so i can get that stuff really stuck down. i couldn't believe the difference it made after i did inside the quarter panels
also got my holes drilled in the firewall for the master cylinder lines. thought i was gonna cry drilling those holes.
got some used type s axles, gonna clean them up and reboot and band them
and here was my christmas present to myself 05 tsx shortblock. gonna do 09 tsx pistons and new bearings and have a fresh bottom end.

Re: preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
also got a spare valve cover, wanted one to use to drop the engine in so i don't scratch my good one, then i wanted to have fun with it so i shaved it and will have the port on the side filled as well, to run 2 weld bungs on the front instead to a catch can
and talk about a pain in the ***, got the header wrapped, not perfect, but this is a temporary header, i want to upgrade later. so this was just a trial run.
so to start off, just for kicks, my brother in law moved his coupe out of the garage to make way for my dad's baby! this is my new garage partner! seeing him work on his car makes me motivated to work on mine!1968 Plymouth Roadrunner! dad built it for my grandpa before he passed away. has alot of centimental value.
Hybrid 70mm throttle body, Hybrid Fuel pressure Regulator, Hybrid TPS, and Hybrid fuel pressure gauge
Hybrid Chain tensioner!
and because i couldn't wait to try it on
got the bungs welded on the water pump housing and brake booster
put some heat paint on my header! looks much better
valve cover all bead blasted clean
OEM honda boot kit for my axles
more brake lines and thanks to Kyle cam angle sensors and a cam cap bolt
Matco heat gun so i could finally get the dynamat laid down nicely!
new exhaust head shields, and a new timing chain
Bisimoto 8.4lb flywheel
Competition Clutch stage 4 clutch!
new OEM dash harness
and finally my big update!!!! K20z3 trans with 20k on it, already has the conversion for the a2 speed sensor and such. all cleaned up with the BoltBoys bell housing kit, and my own little kit for other stuff, and MTEC shift springs installed, new axle seals go.
so let's start this update off, so i get to my tuner at 12:30 today, he was finishing up an appt before me so i had time to check things over on the car. he got all the initial start up stuff done, had 80psi of oil pressure, everything was good to go. he goes to put it in reverse and it just grinds and grinds. oh great. i remembered i had to bend my clutch pedal to clear the brake line bulk head that went through the wheel well, so i pulled that out, put it in his vise and beat it the opposite direction so it could get a full throw. got that problem solved. we get it on the dyno and very first pull it makes 225hp. very good! has the loudest kseries vtec i have ever heard. well with that you get a very large dip in the powerband. so big that we lost 30hp. so he spent the next hour or so putting the final touches on that so we got that little dip almost all the way smoothed out. adjusted fuel, ignition and timing and we managed to squeeze out 244hp 168tq. there were parts in the powerband where we maxed out with pump gas. but everything is very good. rev limiter set at 8k, it makes power all the way through, never a flatline on power. so there's room to grow if i decide to keep these cams i just need to do rods and rod bolts and let er scream! idles really smooth, pulls very nicely, with that trans and lightweight flywheel and crank pulley it really revs quick. very quick throttle response. super happy with it!!
here's the pic that shows the dip in power from vtec. before and after
http://i565.photobucket.com/al...12063
and here's the shitty iphone vid for now lol
tomorrow my father is getting started on all the body work, so hopefully by next week we should have all the body panels on and done!!!

Re: preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
here are some pics of today's progress still have more work to do next week. but we made big progress tonight! i worked 8-5 today, but my dad and brother-in-law got right to work on it this morning, i had some chips on the edges of the doors, around the gas door, a rust bubble on the fender, rust bubble on the quarter by the trunk, scratch on the hood that had a dent with it, both fenders were scratched, the door had rock chips on the bottom that started to rust, so we scuffed down both sides and the hood and decided to do a respray. we pulled the quarter glass out while we were at it. made sure we rolled the quarters before we painted today too. so i'll let the pics do the talking!
Phoenix Gold 12inch sub, Kenwood 700 Watt amp, and Phoenix Gold component door speakers
got all the dynamat laid in the trunk and on the wheel well!
picked up this beauty from work
going with some OEM mud guards this time around!
buddy club low down seat rails
here's how i sit with them positioned how i want
bought a universal catch can from Mike@ktuned.
and that's where i'm placing it
had my buddy plug the hole and weld the bungs on
and off to the dyno
now onto the body shop pics!
got some OEM honda center caps from work that i scuffed down and sprayed black for the RPF1's
that's what we got for now. next week will be painting the seat backs, front lip, side skirts, front bumper, rear bumper and installing everything and wet sanding and buffing!
i also bought type s rear knuckles so i can have the rear wheels fit a little better with less camber than with the ITR rears. so i'll swap those out before i start driving it. plenty more updates to come
i'll start out with this, this was emailed to me by my tuner. the final dyno graph. couldn't get that dip where vtec crosses completely ironed out, but it's pretty good. i'd like to try other tuners to see what they could do as well with that little dip.
picked up some bolt boys beauty washers for the strut towers. i really like them!
center caps installed. i love them!!
got the brackets for my side skirts installed, wanted to get those on before we painted them just so we weren't fumbling around with them all fresh and perty!
spent like an hour and a half getting the fender, hood, and headlights fitted just right.
license plate bracket all shaved and ready for paint! i cut the lower grill out a few years ago when i was running it, so we cleaned that all up too.

Re: preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
redid the trunk jams and door jams
sprayed my SHG tow hook with 3m undercoat. i like how it looks. reason i did it with this over actual paint is in case it ever gets used i won't be too butt hurt about scratching it.
side skirts, rear bumper, and front lip ready for paint
all done!
and onto the fun stuff. dad spent a butt load of time wet sanding and buffing the hood, roof, quarters, and trunk. super pleased!!
that's what i've got for now. this weekend we've gotta get the quarter glass and door glass back in, wet sand the doors and fenders, and hopefully get the rear bumper on and buff that too. stay tuned
here's a few pics my brother snapped at the body shop the other day. the car should be up and going this week!!
lip kit, sideskirts, and rear bumper all painted!!
me bsing with a buddy of mine while my dad is finishing up wet sanding and buffing
shot of the bay, all poopy looking.
dad doing some buffing and polishing
and a side shot of the front bumper in primer, dad is gonna spray that and the seats tomorrow, and that's the end of respray!
next week i'll have some better updates so you can see the car as more of a whole again
well got some more work done tonight.
i hated the way my rear wheels fit, so the other day i bought some type s rear knuckles and got them on. threw on the 3mm spacer that i had on the front on the rear, and then put a 5mm spacer up front. got the car aligned again and was able to move my rear camber from -3.8 to -2.6. they fit so much better!!
front bumper is all done!
bumper, grill and lip kit all installed
sideskirts on
got my ricey stickers on
i just love that front fitment!!!
here's a couple more i snagged white it was at Mitsubishi getting the tint and clear bra done. i got the 01 rear bumper on until it's done getting the stereo installed. i don't need them rubbing all up on my new bumper while putting the sub in. i went with 15% on the quarter glass, back glass, and sunroof, and 35% on the doors. which is all legal in my area. pretty pleased with it all
went with a 24inch strip of clear bra on the hood, half the fender, mirrors, door edge guards(to prevent door dings on my behalf) and on the sideskirts as well to prevent shoes rubbing while getting in.
and my favorite shot so far
dad got my 2nd valve cover painted, that will go off to John Kokenda from Kokenda Kustoms for some air brush work on it

Re: preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
well i gotta few updates. i started driving the car thursday. trying to get some miles on it. ran into a few issues. first, my brockway gauge stopped reading my OIL pressure, so i got really paranoid and bought a mechanical gauge from Oreilley's and hooked it up just to make sure i still had OIL pressure (i do), Eric at Brockway is going to warranty the AEM sensor and see if that does it. and at that point i want to run the mechanical gauge and the brockway gauge. secondly, i felt like i was having the typical Kseries coolant issues because my lower radiator hose has never gotten hot, only a little bit warm so i put the front end way in the air with my coolant funnel on it and just massaged the hoses to try and work the air out. idk nothing changed, yet my temp has never gotten above 200 degrees so idk if my radiator is just working that well or what. and thirdly, and most importantly, apparently my O2 sensor doesn't read and my tuner tuned it closed loop and it idles like ****, sits at around 1800 RPM and i get no air fuel reading. so idk how to fix that.
but enough debbie downer stuff. got my 10AN fittings, and line seperators for my catch can.
got my Hybrid Racing shifter the other day, after driving with it for 2 days i can say that i am in love!!! i have the throw set to be as short as possible side to side and front and back. so gnarly!
bought a new MOMO mod 08 wheel. love this thing!!
spent 7 hours today at Dashboard Electronics getting my sub and speakers all setup. did a false floor with a trap door underneath for cleaning supplies and whatnot. i am extremely impressed. only charged my $280 for the whole thing. upgraded my battery ground to 0gauge, added a distro block under the center console and switched it to 0gauge to the battery as well, upgraded to Memphis Audio battery terminals and Memphis Audio RCA cables. this setup is crisp and clean and super nice.
before anyone says it, yes i know the trap door is off center lol
battery box screwed down with all the cables running up from the bottom so it's all hidden.
got my 04 rear bumper and mud guards on the rear.
sorry for the shitty pic. most of the interior all in. fresh new floor mats, gotta trim the shift boot area to fit over the Hybrid shifter.
seats all installed.
next friday i get the alarm installed. and that is the final touch on the car. until i can figure out the no O2 reading.
well there hasn't been much going on. just been working out the bugs. air bubbles in the coolant system, rear tires rubbing, alarm issues, tps sensor is taking a **** etc etc lol. my new valve cover will be here tomorrow. but for the most part just been driving the car and getting it all broken in. i had the opportunity to drive in a couple rain storms so the car was filthy. got a nice handwash tonight for our car show for charity we have this weekend. that's where you'll get some better pics. but for now
so i have a couple updates here. first off, i sent my valve cover to John Kokenda at Kokenda Kustoms. he did a fantastic job on it! i sent it lambo green and gave him the basic idea of doing puzzle pieces and he added in a honda emblem and little details to the pieces here and there. i let him have his creative control with it. and i could not be happier!!!
and now onto the car pics. so the group that i am a part of, "Relentless Productions", put on our first annual Import Soup meet. admission to the meet was 1 canned food or non perishable food item and we will donate it to our local food pantry. we had a huge turnout! we had 92 open spots to park and had 132 cars crammed in there. raised around $450 dollars in shirt sales. had a blast. but i'll make a thread for that meet later, for now, enjoy the pics of my car that misc people got
a local forum or magazine (not sure what they do) wanted a pic of me and the car.
and here's a shot of the group that put it on, my 2nd family!
the newest member of our team got some go pro footage of the meet, and a tiny bit of "cruising" from last night. weather was a little iffy so we didn't get much. scroll to 6:05 for the small cruising, couldn't really hear my car over my buddy's eg hatch, he has half an exhaust and got a jump on me lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...tu.be
but enough debbie downer stuff. got my 10AN fittings, and line seperators for my catch can.
got my Hybrid Racing shifter the other day, after driving with it for 2 days i can say that i am in love!!! i have the throw set to be as short as possible side to side and front and back. so gnarly!
bought a new MOMO mod 08 wheel. love this thing!!
spent 7 hours today at Dashboard Electronics getting my sub and speakers all setup. did a false floor with a trap door underneath for cleaning supplies and whatnot. i am extremely impressed. only charged my $280 for the whole thing. upgraded my battery ground to 0gauge, added a distro block under the center console and switched it to 0gauge to the battery as well, upgraded to Memphis Audio battery terminals and Memphis Audio RCA cables. this setup is crisp and clean and super nice.
before anyone says it, yes i know the trap door is off center lol
battery box screwed down with all the cables running up from the bottom so it's all hidden.
got my 04 rear bumper and mud guards on the rear.
sorry for the shitty pic. most of the interior all in. fresh new floor mats, gotta trim the shift boot area to fit over the Hybrid shifter.
seats all installed.
next friday i get the alarm installed. and that is the final touch on the car. until i can figure out the no O2 reading.
well there hasn't been much going on. just been working out the bugs. air bubbles in the coolant system, rear tires rubbing, alarm issues, tps sensor is taking a **** etc etc lol. my new valve cover will be here tomorrow. but for the most part just been driving the car and getting it all broken in. i had the opportunity to drive in a couple rain storms so the car was filthy. got a nice handwash tonight for our car show for charity we have this weekend. that's where you'll get some better pics. but for now
so i have a couple updates here. first off, i sent my valve cover to John Kokenda at Kokenda Kustoms. he did a fantastic job on it! i sent it lambo green and gave him the basic idea of doing puzzle pieces and he added in a honda emblem and little details to the pieces here and there. i let him have his creative control with it. and i could not be happier!!!
and now onto the car pics. so the group that i am a part of, "Relentless Productions", put on our first annual Import Soup meet. admission to the meet was 1 canned food or non perishable food item and we will donate it to our local food pantry. we had a huge turnout! we had 92 open spots to park and had 132 cars crammed in there. raised around $450 dollars in shirt sales. had a blast. but i'll make a thread for that meet later, for now, enjoy the pics of my car that misc people got

well here's a couple more pics of my car that someone uploaded from the meet. i love these shots!
well i just have one teeny tiny update that i love so much. got this bad *** Seeker Oil Cap from David at Hybrid. also ordered a Seeker radiator cap. that'll be here in 2 weeks.
i bought a few parts while i was at IA, nothing major, but i'll post those pics after a bit. here's the few pics of the car that i took or others took from the meet.
the line up at our hotel, aside from the hatch on the left everyone else came up with me from sodak.
had the honor of taking home the best valve cover at the show. got a custom painted steering wheel that i'm gonna put in a glass case, and $150 cash. huge honor!!!
my sunburn from the first morning before IA lol
birds eye view from day 2 in the Hybrid Racing booth.
custom roll call i had done for the show
little mini shoot that i did with Matt Bertelson and Kyle. Kevin Spanier took better ones, have yet to see those
here's just the south dakota guys
morning of us leaving for IA that thursday morning. my trailer queen
i had a shitty angle, but i got this model to take pics with my baby

Re: preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
and here's what i picked up at the show.
picked up my Seeker radiator cap that David from Hybrid brought to the show for me, came from Japan a few days before that.
Danyelle was there with her J's racing booth and the president of J's racing, they didn't really have anything for DC5 chassis so i picked up a shift indicator decal. i think they're pretty cool!
and snagged up the last FD2R shift **** that AFH had in stock. just adding to my **** collection
few pics that Kevin Spanier snapped of the car the second day at IA
here's a few that Mr. Glock Photo got of my car
one of Meagen Lee Bryan by the car again
i was hot and in a daze in line for the valve cover contest lol, i had no idea he snapped this
sup guys. just thought i'd drop in for a few updates. the car is holding up BEAUTIFULLY!!!!! well i've got 1200 miles on the car by now. engine is running very strong! we had our annual Honda's with Heart's meet last saturday and we do a dyno event so i threw the coupe up on there again just for ***** n giggles. put down 250hp. i gained 6hp between april and now. i was pretty happy about that! i bought a new passenger side front lower control arm and it fixed my caster issue. car handles and drives awesome now! with the new seat i bought i feel alot better in there. i do need some 40 series tires for sure tho, i gave myself a hair less camber the other day and now i rub like a son of a bitch in the rear lol
however i do have 1 issue that has me worried. i'm pretty sure it's my clutch pedal and how i have it bent a little to clear my brake line bulk head, but it feels like my clutch doesn't fully engage. when i get on it in 1 gear and make a pull and try to casually shift at the top of the rpm range it gets stuck and doesn't let me shift even with the pedal fully pressed. so this winter i'm gonna swap brake and clutch pedals and see if that helps.
i'll go on to a few pics i have.
new OEM front LCA
purchased a buddy club bucket for myself, and am borrowing a friends bucket for the passenger seat for now.
i won 1st place in the Import Class at a show me and some buddies went to a few weeks back
here we are at the show
i finally wanted to see what the STI rear diffuser looked like mounted on the car, i'm a little unsure about it still. but oh well it'll stay for now.
threw on my buddies Mugen's for our Honda's with Heart's show. 18's weren't as bad as i thought.
tossed my RPF1's on the accord just because lol
now onto some non car related things, i bought this about a month ago and figured it was time. this is the reason why i couldn't afford another seat for coupe, and the reason why coupe will remain the way it is for a while lol
i asked her after our Honda's with Heart's show in front of my friends and family. she had NO clue, i completely caught her off guard. i had my go pro on my sunroof to capture the whole thing, but it was dead

nothing really major to post, i haven't driven the car since i got my speeding ticket, which was about 3 weeks ago. so i decided to drive it today to wash it. it was FILTHY!!!! also wanted to wax all the glass since i don't have wipers, so i'm letting the wax sit overnight.
here's a before
and then after crazy Ryan mentioned i should try blacking out my rs badge. so we had a bunch of black touch up paint so i gave it a shot. and i love it!
after
that's all i have for now. nothing much will be changing on the car for a while. just gonna enjoy it before winter hits.
here's a few pics i snapped in my driveway a few weeks back, just screwin around.

here's some more pics my brother sent over to me.
and then lastly, i've been slowly plugging away at my shift **** collection, i also want to have the matching oil caps and radiator caps too, so that is my future plans lol
a buddy of mine gave me a great deal on his J's racing **** and threw in the radiator cap free.
then i went ahead and ordered the option Mugen **** threw work.
and here's the collection so far, the J's one is in the car now. hopefully over winter i can pick up a few more.
i've parked the car for winter now, so we'll be getting some new tires and a new passenger seat for sure. we'll see what else i can take care of before spring.

Re: preston's k24/k20 em2 build thread. picture heavy!
well, i haven't been up to a whole lot. first off it's cold as ***** here now, was -15 the other day, can't get much done with that. so i've been fixing a few things that i never got to while i was driving the car. so here we go. i took off my tires and sold them, to avoid rubbing i'm gonna have to go to a 40 series, so i'll get them in the spring with tax return.
i wanted to run my brockway gauge, oem oil sending unit, and a mechanical oil pressure gauge in case my brockway one quit working again, so this little piece was a huge help with that!
i gave my buddy back his bucket now that i'm done with it, and came across an SRD in really good shape for dirt cheap and picked that up, in order to run that with my buddy club rails tho i had to buy the horizontal straps from Buddy Club. they weren't a direct fit with the seat so i had to fab something up for that.
only a little bolster wear, no holes tho. and it wasn't all squished like some are.
started with an 18inch strip of angle iron.
then put in 2 16inch strips of thick square tubing.
my buddy came through and welded it all for me again. dude is so good!
and here's the final result. the angle iron and tubing is bolted to the seat, and the seat rail is bolted to the square tubing. the Buddy Club bucket is only temporary, maybe next winter i can pick up a Recaro SPG bucket. then my seat purchases will be done lol
one thing that has always bugged me was that i had 3 standard bolts that needed to be replaced still, so i hit up Frank at BoltBoys and he came through for me again.
much better
and then i wanted to address my fuel leak that i had since day 1. so i took my fuel pump out, replaced both feed and return line with submersible fuel line, i made the boo boo of not doing that before, cleaned around my bulk head and applied 5 minute body panel epoxy, this **** is hard as hell! i shouldn't leak from there anymore, and for good measure i replaced the rubber seal that goes between the pump and the tank. should be good to go now.
that's what i've got for now. i need to buy a new RPF1 and have it powdercoated, new passenger window regulator, get my double din to play DVD's while i drive, a front strut tower bar, tires and a retune from a new tuner, and i'll be happy with it for a while!
