Default gnxpros' 2000 Civic coupe build

I figure its about time I start a build thread for my current project which is also my daily. I picked her up last February with a ton of miles and almost completely stock.

Unfortunately the kid I bought the ek from lied to me and said there were no dents in the body. The 1/4 is terrible and every freakin panel is dented to hell and back. Only reason I bought it is because it was the exact car I was looking for down to the year, color, and model, and its rust free even underneath, which is impossible to find in PA.

Buffed the lights

Got rid of the ugly American Racing rims and replaced the screwed up door

Notice the mileage? Original everything. Still gets 25-30mpg city

Bought some real wheels and new tires. Work Cr Kai. Also did a rear disc conversion. Brand new energy suspension trailing arm bushings, calipers, rotors, ceramic pads, hubs and bearings.

Bought some lowering springs, a lip, and oem foglights bnib.

Ditched the nasty original carpet for one I had cleaned up and dyed.

Swapped in some RSX seats

Stole the calipers from my Prelude for 11.1" upgrade. Also "tucked" an older style 4040 prop, valve and made my own brakelines.

SiR grill (has an Si emblem til I can get an SiR badge imported). Plan on doing a Canadian SiR clone since Canada got silver for the SiR, our Si got red instead.

Slim fans mounted, swapped the polarity of the wires and flipped the blades so they would push instead of pull air.
Relocated the fusebox and did a wire tuck.

Made a tuck harness for future engine swap plans. Obd2 engine plugs, through the firewall to obd1 ecu plugs for Hondata, chassis wiring, and wired in a resistor box as well.

Picked up some real suspension. Traded my mint S2k seats for them. Need to paint or powdercoat the rest of the suspension sometime.

Thats as far as Ive gotten in my "build". Will keep adding pics as the build progresses.

Very nice job fixing and modifying the CR-V, and the coupe is coming along nicely.

However I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but those aren't Work CR-Kai's. CR-Kai's aren't multi-pattern, the valve stems are not aligned with the lug nuts, and there is a Work stamp on the opposite side of the face of the wheel from the valve stem. (example: https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4010/4...0beed087_z.jpg )

Those look more like Drag DR-31's.

(Also, those coilovers are made in China for the lowest bidder. They're real, but not really all that good.)

Theyre 06+ Si rears. Bottom piece wont bolt in without mod to the car and the backs need the frames swapped over and latch catches need welded in the appropriate spots.

Looks like I was ripped then.. explains why I didnt pay much even with the new tires included.

Idc where the coilovers were made, theyre a major step up from lowering springs and they ride amazingly well. I traded my Teg seats and $80 for the S2k seats and then traded them for the coilovers, cant lose there.

Was it really necessary to change my build threads title to "ej" instead of "ek"? Not only do I HATE when people say ej, even if it is correct, (it also makes it that much easier to confuse with eg which is also ej) but, theres at least 5 people in this same section of the forum using "eg" and "ek" yet, you only changed mine. If youre gonna change it for whatever reason, at least change it to "gnxpros' 2000 Civic coupe build" instead of the "ej" nonsense.

Fixed your title. I've changed several titles, just for your reference. You don't see that, because you're not a moderator. Also, there's no such thing as an "EG coupe".

I won't argue you getting a great deal for your money, when it comes to the coilovers. I just wouldn't call them something they're not.

I like my F&F Type 1 coil overs that I threw on my hatch. I think they're a huge improvement over stock.

I had one setup set in stone (so I thought) and got almost all the parts for it. Now I kinda want to go with a different setup but wont be able to if the original doesnt sell. Snoop around the for sale thread and youll see what Im talking about.

Theyre a major improvement over my drop springs which already had made quite a difference. They plant your car to the road and make a world of difference for traction (especially when combined with a traction bar).

Really wanted SiR gauges but these will do, for now. Even set them to the exact mileage of my old gauges.

You did manually? It's looking good, subbed.

Did you use the stock Civic front spindles to complete the 11.1" front setup? I did a similar swap to my hatchback (Integra spindles with mini cooper rotors and ITR calipers) and I'd like to do the same to my daily but it has stock civic spindles... not sure if yours was a bolt on affair...

Yea, I used the stock knuckles. I was gonna have the ITR (Prelude) caliper brackets shaved and use redrilled Prelude rotors but the local shop wanted $150. Got brand new cooper rotors for $75 and ceramic pads for $30. Only thing I don't like about the cooper rotors is the fact that the lug holes are bigger than Honda uses but, oh well.

Not bad. I like the seats. Doing some simple things and keeping on the street, that's nice to see.

I'm no 5th/6th gen expert. But you gotta call it what it is (EJ8?). You have the Si grill emblem which is hella confusing to me (I realize Canada's EX was the Si now). What do you mean 'clone'? Just curious. Like, the exterior trim?

Yeah during assembly it bothered me too, but it's hasn't given me or anyone else any problems yet.

How much did the milling of the caliper brackets cost? I might go ahead and get it done on the daily. Love me some beefy OEM brakes.

The cooper rotors allow the calipers to be used without shaving the brackets.
I'm upgrading the rears as soon as I have some extra cash to drop on new rotors and pads. Using the Prelude/ITR calipers for 10.3 rears. Should compensate for the big brakes in the front.

Essentially it's gonna look like a US Si/Canadian SiR.
Gauges, grill, lip, rear disc, rear sway bar, etc. Discs all the way around (but bigger than stock) and bigger sway bars.. I like to make my cars "stock plus".

:O! OH. The SiR, okay. Are you going to put a B16A2 in it? That's sort of what I thought about most. Are you going to make it 'look' like a SiR or put the motor and such in it too.

Just aesthetically. I dont want to be slow with a B16a2

It would be faster than the Y8, wouldn't it? Not much I guess, might not be worth it if you are really just going for looks.

Sorta a strange goal, I like it. I'll keep an eye on this. I don't usually venture forward from the 4th gen civics.
