Default DIYMIKE Construction and Destruction Story of my EF RIP!

Its been a long while since I ever posted on here but I have a kind of amusing story of my EF that I built. Even though its been almost 4 years since i have sold it. The Legacy of it still haunts me, Just today somebody mentioned my old car. So it motivated me to give my EF a little requiem.

Purchased for $500.00 after the GSR motor was removed and replaced with a blown B18B. Car was originally from Ohio.

The B18B came with it and was parted out...I made my $500 back!

the body was in fair condition..considering i got this in the midwest and no rust

notice the double exhaust cut out. almost painful to see

Then i took it apart..

All the while i had bought this parts car to complete my car. $425 shipping was 250 though!

Then i was done..for the time being

as you can see, didn't really put any serious money into it

started to take it apart again

i started to do some bodywork here and there. i have no experience in body work..but it was pretty easy...it just takes patience.

Chaos in my room

after the motor was removed

living room

At this point i was able to peice together a complete JDM front end with an exception of the Hood. i wanted a carbon fiber one but when the total came up to 650 shipped i wasnt to happy. then i thought wait a complete jdm front end from a importer sells them for 700. why not just buy one and sell the other parts i dont need. i called Hmotorsonline and Steve picked up. I asked him if he had some ef9 front ends and he said yeah but I also have a Brand New One in stock! I thought for a second and said "wait you have a brand new one from japan in?" and he said "yeah in Honda boxes"......then i said how much? he said 1300. then i dropped the credit card number. now some of you might be thinking thats alot of money....well it is. but i thought I have never seen somebody sell one of these..This is a chance of a life time! haha yeah i know an impulse buy but hey when this came in.....

I had the Biggest smile on my face...

I actually sold all the used ef9 parts and made a good chunk of change....

the Shell was sent to paint and i found a storage place to work on my car... and now i am just waiting........

PROBLEMS......

car doesn't start.

will update later......

mood....Not to happy.

so far all i know is that there is no CEL and i have spark, i have to check fuel later.

4/13/2007

I took the car for a spin in the storage unit place.

it was nice. it was the first time i drove my car in like 7 months.

still not done as you can see.

something i did notice was that the car would hum when i would put the car in gear.

i installed a exedy stage 1 clutch. did anybody ever had that problem. the humming goes away when i start to drive but when i put it in gear and its in neutral it hums

well any way here some pictures

I just want to remind you guys that:

it hasn't been buffed yet

i am going to get it buffed then i am going to install the new mouldings i bought.

4/28/07

Here is an update.

i know its been awhile.

i had to get an alignment and put together some random things.

i have been driving it for over a hundred miles.

i have to bleed the brakes. it seems that the brakes are uneven, it shakes when i apply the brakes slowly. Plus i felt the brakes on one side and its hotter then the other side.

i bleed the brakes like crazy but when i put the new master cylinder in, i didn't bench bleed it.

also my steering wheel shakes a little. you can hardly feel it but i know its there.

i think its the steering rack bushings. i ordered some prothane ones.

-Plus another problem i found is that the idle surges. the Type r head doesn't have the bleed valve. so i tried to do it manually but i don't know if i did it at all right.

it might be the ivac but my car runs fine its just annoying! LOL but it only does it some times.

other then that the car is really fun to drive

here are some pictures

My future plans:

-New steering wheel!
-get new suspension, i am on H&R's and some kyb but the car needs to be dumped some more.
-put on my password JDM lip.
-fix the idle
-fix the steering wheel shaking
-buff the car
- then finally put on the new moldings i bought.

Still going to have more updates.

if you have any w\questions let me know i can help you out.

UPDATE 5/1/07

Got the lip installed. its a password jdm one. they don't have anymore carbon ones but the fiberglass one will do. it weighs close to nothing. it felt like it would break in my hands, very thin and flimsy. i had to sand it down and respray it. its alright for the price.

the final pic

Fiberglass Password JDM Lip Ended up breaking when i slid into a side walk. Car was fine but the lip cracked so i replaced it with a stock EF9 lip.

I buffed the ride a couple weeks ago. it came out 100 times better then who ever buffed it before. oh well he did it for free and you get what you pay for.......

Remember always do it yourself. This was my first time buffing, it took close to 5 hours or so. i went over with two compounds, i should of finished off with glaze but the sun was going down... another day perhaps.

here are some pics i took on Sunday.

As the story goes I decided to sell my ride. I went to school in Missouri and built the car there but i am originally from Las Vegas. So I put it for sale in Las Vegas. I actually sold it to a member on here: shunn21.

This kid was a complete moron, but the moron had money. After i parted out the car, taking out the rims, steering wheel, system, ITR cams, camgears, intake manifold. The car was his. So I hear later that Shawn is going around town with my old car and telling everyone that HE BUILT THE CAR. Which is kind of dumb since I have the forsale post on HT and a local Vegas import site.

This is what happens when you give the car to a moron. I guess he joined a crew called "JOKER racing?"

So after shunn21 Had failed attempts to register my car. He decides to sell it or trade it on Honda-Tech.
Then i run into a kid in missouri that had a clean blue EG...the funny thing was that This other kid in missouri ended up trading his eg for my old EF... So this kid from vegas drives alllllll the way back to springfield Missouri and i am flipping out because i see my car again back in missouri.... The kid from vegas.....torn up my car... he was an IDIOT.... i felt bad for the kid in missouri because his eg was clean and well maintained.....

here is his original forsale/ trade post.

The car was sold on 5/7/09

The car goes from Springfield Missouri to West Lafayette, IN

to an Ef-honda member named AlNoCar

Which after about a two months decides to RAPE my old car. He parts it out.

http://ef-honda.com/main/viewtopic.p...er=asc&start=0

"I've decided that I no longer want to pursue my dream of building an EF-era Civic and I'm going to part out everything. By everything, I mean EVERYTHING. If you don't see a part listed and it comes on a 1988-1991 Civic Hatchback, ask me and I'll probably have it. Without further ado, I give you the list, with all prices shown without shipping charges.
Images will be loaded shortly. "

Loved the story man!

I remember this car from years ago and loved what you did with it. Too bad it had a sad ending... find it. Buy it back, build that car then keep it forever. So clean
