Default Bigdare's 1988 CRX Si -> CR-X SiR

Here are just a few pictures of my buildup I wanted to share with H-T. My conversion started about 3 years ago and it's near the finishing stages now.

Right after I installed my front-end (I was so excited that I forgot stock pictures)

Next I installed a front lip (password) and UKDM wing

I thought it was time for a change, so I sold my 15in Konig Heliums and got a set of 14in Mugen MR5s. If you didn't noticed, I also switched the door handles out for 4dr's rear handles (and added a JDM plate because I'm a ricer LOL)

If you notice from some of the rear shots, I had a horrible exhaust. So I decided to replace it with a Skunk2 cat back

Can't look like a SiR with a single cam, so I swapped that out for a b16a (LSD y1 transmission) with a few goodies and installed EF fenders (because drills and me don’t get along well)

I was thinking to myself; why not swap out the interior? So I did!

SiR steering wheel (if you can notice, I got new black carpet also. It's just dirty now.)

EF6 seats

rear seat

floor mats

Oh yeah I can’t forget about my rain visors, taillights, and EF6 bumper (for the lightweight support)

So when the summer comes, I thought I would be wrapping up my project, but noooooooooooooooo. Exactly two days after my birthday, I broke an axle which sent my car into a ditch. The results were a passenger side wheel being pushed back damn near to the fender and a lot of **** bent and broke. Luckily I have friends with part cars and after a weekend of guess and check LOL, we got my car back to about 90-95% and that Monday I order a set of Avid traction bars to help out the suspension. But with my luck, that Tuesday I got re-ended (JDM rear bumper support FTW right? Hell naw!!! LOL). Luckily, the car that hit me was lowered and it just hit below my taillights and not the whole rear-end, but my bumper got pushed in pretty bad any my rear keyhole was off about an inch (I was too pissed to take pictures). Thanks god for having friends who own a body shop and getting hit by someone who didn’t want to deal with insurance, so they paid for the bodywork and paint!!!

So the end results were

I had to wait until my 90-91 body molding came in before a true photo shoot.

And I'm going to leave you with my favorite shot

As for the motor, I have a 1st gen b16a with a LSD y1 transmission. I have a CTR intake cam, Competition Clutch stage 1 clutch, Number1 race flywheel (8lbs), Greddy one piece 4-2-1 header from a 99si, Skunk2 intake manifold (1st gen), AEM fuel, AEM cold air intake, Unorthodox race crank pulley, Ebay high flow cat, and a Skunk2 cat-back (I know I'm forgetting something). Untuned running on a pw0 I made 156hp and 110lbs/ft. My goal is around 170hp. Hopefully, I can get that after I switch my exhaust to the buddy club specII, my intake to the AEM hybrid one, add the CTR exhaust cam, and convert my car over to obd1 and get tuned on chrome or hondata.

Very nicely done. Id tell ya to check out my finished product, but yanked the thread because of paranoia.

Fix your pics with the plate exposed.

Thanks for the suggestion SIred91! I wasnt thinking.

Got_EF8, at first I would just search patiently on ebay and throw money at Password, but one day I came across a little place here in GA called....... Jhot! They are seriously the Japanese part supplier in the US !!! Luckily they are about two hours away so I can go personally and pick up what I want. I bought so much from them that they know me personally LOL.

the13thround, I got the seats from Jhot. They had two rips on the driverseat (our passenger seat), and with my mAd JDM sewing skills I repaired to my standards. As for the price, you're going to flip because I paid $105 for the set. Basically, I got the front and rear seat for less than $350 I believe together.

BigDare have you tried the jap place that is in canton. They seem to have good prices but I've never had the cash when the deals come along. How are the deals for Jhot? I had a complete jdm power window kit but I sold it due to we thought we were going to sell my 88 crx si when I bought my sedan. Well wife told me to keep the rex so I'm trying to build up parts again that I sold off.

quite a transformation. nice work. the car is quite respectable now. its lovely.. and a B16 CRX is always nice.

lose the aluminum crank pulley before you lose your oil pump, though.

Love it. The photo shoot pics are amazing. Get some better pics of the engine bay to accompany the photo shoot ones.

What's next on the list? As if there is anything left!

rbwdriven, I called Jarco (I believe thats the name) when I was looking for a swap. They tried to sell me a xsi halfcut for about $2200. I was like cool, because I thought it came with the panels, but they told me it was bare. So I was like hell naw because a halfcut with nothing on it is worthless. Besides that experience, they seem pretty reasonable with wheels and stuff like that.

Thanks hybridmiklo!!!

I agree jayturboef. At first, I was kinda worry about the down size from 15in to 14in rims, but it turn out to be one of my favorite mods. I'm in the process of restoring them. I should be done polishing the lips sometime soon and I may get them painted black like the SEs.

Thanks for the comment alexdog69, but why would the pulley kill my oil pump? Isn't like running a ctr pully? More info please since this is the first time I ever heard something about that. Thanks

Thanks gen2fanatic!!!

LOL, sometimes I feel the same way. I love the how I feel when I'm behide the wheel. As for the conversion, it doesnt cost much as people think if you piece it together. I'm thinking about doing another conversion again on a hatch or sedan now, but my plans are on hold for a min since I just got engaged and I'm working on her 92 Civic 4dr. Soon it would be a replica of a Ferio SiR

Thanks Spoon Sports

Thanks doitdub!!! Luckily, I have a good friend who's a professional photographer and loves my car. My car is kinda near the ending stages unless I go glasstop (I'm in the process of helping my boy with his glasstop conversion and it should be done this weekend if that goes well I may do it.). I'm going to change my exhaust to the buddyclub specII, I got to install my maplight, swap clusters with a UKDM one or SiR one, rear disc conversion (which should of been done a long time ago), new bushing, AEM hybrid intake, convert my car over to obd1 and get it tuned on chrome or hondata, and continue to fix whatever messes up LOL.
