Default Accord Type R Turbo (Holset) UK

Hi all, from the UK,

Im a keen browser from Honda-Tech as there is alot of good info and clever people on here, and you guys take boosting to another level

I've had quite a few Honda's but only tuned them n/a and breathing / ecu / suspension / brakes etc for track / hard country roads.

After selling my last DC5 i bought an EVO 9 FQ340 and tuned it to 425hp/430lbft, it was a great car out of the box, didnt need to do much to it. But then it was stolen

I was having a **** start to the year, at 24 i split up with my wife, uncle passed away, and then my EVO got nicked all in a space of 4 months. So i went abit crazy and bought a CBR600RR and then decied Honda VTEC Turbo time!

I set out with 1 goal in mind.......to build a VTEC Turbo that would hurt Nissan GTR's lol. Not to be pretty or anything just to be rapid lol.

So i decided to get a Accord Type R as id pretty much had all the others and didnt like EP3's and EK9's were too small.

This is how my build went over a year and 4 months. I was only working on it on weekends really so it too along time as i work away, its been fun, its been sad, blood, sweat and tears but so worth it.

Loads of pics below, hope they dont **** anyone off.

Ive probably missed loads but thats the main chunk of it. Its currently running 475hp/360lbft @ 1.1bar. The inline fuel pump is being fitted now and hoping to turn up the boost.

I still have a few bits to do, like fit HKS Mushroom and get Hard Pipe, Change rocker cover, fit bonnet vent, get bonnet pins. So small bits really. Ive heatwrapped coolant pipes etc, and organised all the wires / vacum pipes so it looks alittle tidy under the hood. I might go for a a bigger rad core, and some drive shafts.

Its quite quick, i didnt expect it to be as quick as it is at this power. Heres a video. Gets to 175mph pretty quickly.

Future plans, Hooiser none expanding drag radial on spare wheels, and some R888's for track use, and then a Prelude Si gearbox for VMAX Top Speed test to see if i can get anywhere near 200mph.

Hope it all looks good, i know its not at patch on what you guys build over in the US, but its a start!

Thanks
Jay

Cheers dude. Gonna give it a try, trying to get the 300LPH intank pump from MAP on here, got a 255 a the mo and about to fit a 270 inline on it also, then Turn up the boost.

Then i gotta find the Prelude gearbox, which should give me the ratio's i need, i've still got the Type R gearbox with LSD in at the mo and that has a very short 1st/2nd/ 3rd into to bad, 4th and 5th are nice and long.

Cheers
Jay

Cheers dude. Im hoping to run the 1/4 in March on Hooiser's and then see what she's got.

Waiting for dates for the VMAX event, 1.7 miles to see what she can pull with a Prelude g/box.

Good deal, sounds like MAP is getting you hooked up with our new DW301 pump. Should be available soon. Keep at'em.

Well after sorting out a small boost leak, got it back on the dyno and its putting out 505hp @ 1.3bar. Thats it until i change my inlet manifold / TB / and possibly some BC cams.

Another note is that because the way the ATR fuel tank and internal swirl pot is designed after modifying it i was able to get more power than 330whp. But now the 2 Fuel pumps are pumping fuel to fast, the Swirl pot is not filling up fast enough causing it to lean out.

So having to get a 2LTR external swirl pot, aem fuel rain, aeromotive fuel pressure reg, dash6/8 lines and another fuel pump most likely the DW300.

Also ordered a Koyo Rad which has a larger core than my current rad. Reason is it will be used a more of track car than drag this year and water temps are getting slightly hot when slowing down.

Bonnet Vents still to go in, then i can rag it as much as i want, hoping to get it on the track in a couple of weeks and the Nurburgring in a couple of months

Handling, Breaking, Power, Traction. I feel i have a really good balance of all of them now, drove it around country roads and pushed it around bends and its surprisingly brilliant.

Here are some pics from the weekend

Hello everyone!! Progress has been slow. I been soo busy.

So i upgraded the Rad to a Koyo Race Rad, took out the thermostat and am looking to use EVANS coolant (none water).

Also upgraded the Fuel system and it now consists off:

1000cc ID
AEM Fuel Rail
Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Reg
Intank Walbro 255 Pump
External Swirl Pot
2 External Walbro 270 Inline Pumps

Love the sound of the pumps priming up in the boot before i start it. Lol.

The car is fast, its quite difficult to describe how fast it is, its quite scary and i think the brakes are going to wear out quickly.

Im just getting the Bonnet Vent in and i managed to get Turbo Blanket big enough.

I have a mag feature so i currently getting all ready for the photoshoot which is 2 weeks away.

Some pics from last weekend

A few pics from last night, went out for a quick run. OMG, lol. Soon as i get on the power im on the brakes. I cant actually describe how quick it is.

And some pics from today. Did a few simple jobs, hooked up the Oil temp again, new rocker cover on, cleaned out the engine bay alittle. Now venting the bonnet. Tomorrow will be a full interior valet, if the weather stays nice

Sticker Fetish coming on?

And the current power graph.

Cheers
Jay
