**be18see1's 93 da9 build!**
Hey guys! This is my build thread for the 93 Integra shell I purchased yesterday (June 19) for $625. My first Honda was my 98 GSR that I bought the month after my 18th birthday and was stolen 4 months later. I followed that up with my current daily driven hwip, my prized 93 Integra GS with the motor from my recovered GSR and some suspension goodies. Here's a picture of the daily:
I remember seeing this car at Slowmotion last year and it was the nicest DA I had seen at that point. It was white with red Sportmaxx (sp?) wheels with stretched tires with a XSi powerplant. Super clean. Unfortunately, it was stolen and recovered in between then and now, allowing me to pick it up the price above. The car's body is really clean except for a couple dings (I've counted 3 thus far) and a dented passenger side door. It came with some poor-fair condition 1 pieces (my first set!), Tokico Illuminas, some sort of purple springs (Tanabes?), and a short shifter of some kind. Here's my plans for the car:
1.) Fix the dings and dent (first time with body work!)
2.) Clean up the bay
3.) Tuck the bay (first time doing this!)
4.) Paint the car Championship White - Exterior, jams, and bay (Another first!)
5.) Swap my GSR/B16 trans in
6.) Repaint the wheels and valve cover something bright!
Onto the pics!
The inside (ahhhhh! )

First Update!
Today I worked on cleaning the bay up and started figuring out how to go about doing this wire tuck. I only want to do a mild tuck (headlights and hide the engine harness) and possibly relocate the fuse box. There are still some things I don't know how to do right with this so bear with me as it's a learning process! I routed my headlight/horn/cc (if I decide to keep it) outside the frame rail and moved the hood release cable to inside the framerail. I still have to extend the harness as needed so I have the headlights mounted as best I can because one has 1 tab and the other has 2. To teh pictarz!
Where's the harness?
Here it is! You can see where I ran the hood cable too. Does anyone recognize the springs?
Bay is getting cleaner. I was having trouble with getting off those heater hoses so I moved on to other stuff so I could keep working without getting pissed, which tends to happen when I work on my car. I'm going to loop those power steering lines once I figure out the proper method. Sanding the bay will commence as soon as I can get the brakes lines out (gotta get a 10 mm flare wrench) and degrease the bay completely.
Bonus pic

Looks good man, keep up the good work. If your having a hard doing anything, just be patient and take it slow, cause you dont want something to go wrong once your finish, especailly the wire tuck, which is painful and time consuming, even more if its your first time!

looks good so far man. i'm in for sure. for the heater hoses, if you dont mind buying new ones your best bet is to take a razor blade across them to split them and then peel them off the hard lines. trust me, you dont want to use pliers and smash the hard lines. i learned that one the hard way.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to have to cut those hoses off. I should mention I'm on a huge budget so I don't want to spend any unnecessary money. I'll mess with them a little more when I have some spare time.

either way looks good.
why do you need to take the hoses off anyhow? if they're still in good shape, you could always just leave them on and if you're painting the bay, just bag/tape them up

I'm trying to degrease the bay as much as possible and it'd be a whole lot easier with a bare firewall. I'm thinking I may use aerosol paint to prime and paint the bay and then go over it with a few coats of clear from my gun. The exterior of the car will be sprayed with a gun for primer and top coats.

Worked on extending some of the wires on my driver's side for my tuck. Unfortunately, the car is missing all of the lights up front and the wiring is a little weird because the one pieces were wired up using separate wires from the stock lights. I think I extended the wrong wire for my corner but I don't know yet. I'll throw up some pics when I'm finished soldering, heat shrinking, and wire looming!

Driver's side tuck almost done. All that needs done is some connectors for the fogs and the horn wires extended.
Started wetsanding the car too. Was just going to see how hard it was to sand off the black but then I got carried away and sanded for like an hour!
I'm hoping to start the passenger's side soon and locate the fuse box to the cabin. I don't know where the best location would be yet but I know it can't be too hard to find one.

My family operates a farm and as of now, I can't get a definate spot to store and work on the car. I've been leaving it on the trailer so that I can move it to the shop and then back into any open bays in one of our barns at night.

My dad won't give up any bays so I'm just waiting for a one to pop up I can swipe for a few months. We have so much space and I can't get a spot for my little da . Last night I pulled out the DA sander and went to work down the side of the car. Driver's side is almost ready for body work. I've still got to do the harness on the passenger side but I've been procrastinating on that one.

An update, finally! I decided that it would be cost efficient to have the car painted professionally and that I would prep the car (sand, fix dings, and tape). I found a big *** rust problem under the driver's side quarter where the bumper slides on. I used this as an opportunity to test my recently acquired welding skills and fabricated a bit of sheet metal to fill where I cut out the rust. Here's how that came out:
^^ Still needs some paint on it, don't mind the surface rust.
All I've left to sand is half the roof and the door jams. Bay is ready for spray and I've fixed most of the dings. There's a big dent on the lower portion of the passenger side door and I can't decide if I should have it fixed or replace the entire door. I just realized that I don;t have any full body shots but here's some pics of my progress:
Fixed a rust bubble here too.

I've got three ideas. Originally, I wanted Championship White but lately I've been considering more of a creamy white or a desert brown gloss. I think the moldings will stay black but I'm going to color match the mirrors and handles. What do you guys think?

what color is that? It looks olive green in the pictures? Still, looks like your in the same part of your build as mine. I'm gonna go buy paint soon, so I need to pick a damn color. I keep thinking white so if I decide to pull the rear seats/carpet and pick up some racing seats someday, the car won't look too silly, just pretty silly. Have you looped your rack yet?
I found three dings on the roof today when I finished sanding the exterior so now I have a total of like 5 dings remaining and 1 bigass dent on the door.
