Wiseco ring gap over spec, issue?
Just got new rings for my wiseco 81.5mm 13:1 pistons, spec is
Top: 0.0144
2nd: 0.0177
Measured ring gap today...
Top: 0.015-0.017
2nd: 0.026
Is 0.008 out of spec an issue for the 2nd ring? Tore the motor apart because it was burning oil, hate to put it back together and have the same issue. It's an lsvtec, b18a1 block.
Thanks

I don't think those gaps will cause oil burning.
Can you clean your cylinders and take a pic. I'd like to see if there are signs of out-of-roundness.

I'll post a pic tomorrow, the car is at my work. I just honed the cylinders a tad, got a nice crosshatch going on but I doubt that took much, if any off?

they're brand new rings from Wiseco, there isn't much wear as far as I can tell on the old rings. I'll get pics up in a bit. The ring gap listed was for the new rings I just ordered.
