i have both they both have camgears but the b16 has type r valves which one would i get more power out of owe the block haas ctr pistons

both of them flow about the same, the b16 a little better at high rpm, the gsr will give you slighter higher comp. b/c of the smaller comb.chambers, but the b16 will probably be cheaper b/c they're a dime a dozen, the gsr has slighter more aggressive cams, dont forgot to think about intake manifolds differences also, try a search you'll get 500 results about this. good luck!!!

Go with GSR, if you can find one. I like the intake port design, the square combustion camber bumps up compression, and gives protection aganist detonation. The only downside is the GSR intake manifold, it's a good street intake manifold. If your staying with just minor mods, this IM will do. If you plan to do more agressive mods, like high lift cams, higher compression, etc. Go with AEBS intake manifold(once it comes out), or port that GSR IM out. Don't go Skunk2! The ports are like the B16, which don't match up with your GSR intake ports.

PROs:
Better combustion camber, intake ports design(low lift flow very important), lost motion assembly(like R), GSR cams better than B16.

Cons: Can't find one, too expensive, less single runner IM's out there.

B16

PROs: Flows @ higher lifts, meaning more top end power. Crap load of IM's for this head. Type R, Skunk2, AEBS are good ones. There cheap! Even the SIR-1 good old heads, best bang for buck.

Cons: Don't have the good stuff like GSR.

If you can get your hands on a GSR, get it. Better head stock wise. If your on budget, B16 is the way to go. In the end there both good choices, make about the same HP(I could be wrong, ).

a b16 flows better on the bench when ported

a gsr will give you a 2-3 hp increase by design

the difference between the 2 is not something that you going to notice if u use factory ports and internals

yes a b16 has better im options but that only one piece to the puzzle
