Default water and oil pump ls/vtec

when going ls/vtec, is the stock water and oil pump used or will I have to swap with the b16 one?

I'm pretty sure you need a vtec water pump with 22 teeth. Also i know that the vtec oil pumps will produce more pressure, the pressure relief valve doesn't open until higher pressure, so you should opt for the vtec oil and water pump. Also there is no difference between ITR, GSR, or b16 oil pumps, if there in the same OBD level, OBD-2 oil pumps are said to flow better than the OBD-1's. The OBD-2 pumps also use a CKF sensor though, and require the matching OBD-2 lower timing cover. also search because in about 1 second someone is gonna get on you about it.

good info but here is more

you can use the LS water pump as long as you keep the LS timing belt
or use the GSR water pump and GSR timing belt

Difference being is the GSR water pump is a 22 tooth gear
and the LS is a 19 tooth gear.....

now for oil pumps

all OBD2 pumps are the same
you can buy a new Type-R oil pump at the dealer for about 115.00 if you walk in.
like Rjay said....if you get a 96 and up oil pump then you will need the cover.....If im not mistaken, if you ask the dealer for a 94-95 GSR oil pump they will still give you a 96 and up...I think they have superseeded the part number for the new ones now....so a timing belt cover will be need if this is so.

I dont recommend a used pump.....this is the so called heart of your engine and it is pumping the blood( oil ) the then engine needs to stay alive...so dont skimp out on it.

hope this helps a little
