Default Stock b20/vtec cams?

I have been searching the archives but have not been able to find the specific answer. Does anyone know or has anyone tried using itr/ctr cams, or any other cams for a b20z2 with a 2nd gen b16 head. The bottom end is stock and I have heard that with any other cams but stock, the valves would hit the pistons. Anyone out there have any experience with this?

Right on , how was the power? Is it decent enough for the street. I am not looking to hit the track, I bassically drive about 70 miles each way from Palmdale,Ca to Torrance, Ca every day. At this point I have a stock 2000 EX and will be dropping the motor next week, but am not sure if I should build the motor. If I could get away with just cams and still compete with, let's say mustangs, that would be cool.

which B20 bottom you using?.. if your considering buying one, go with the B20z or the one with the (PHK) pistons in it.. with all the right bolt ons, a decent header with a 2.5 collector, good head (gsR ) and the ctr cams or 00^ itr, you'll have a good street motor!.. it's been done alot of times.. continue on your search, and you'll find your answers... good luck

I have a b16a2 head and B20z2 block all bone stock. I dropped in some 00 ITR cams and made 9.7 at a 8th mile track with no tunning in a 97 Hatch. Now From MY experince. My Valves were hitting the pistons at hight RPM range. If You will be fine as long as you Zero out your cams before the build. I didnt do that at first. Now that I did "Zero" out my cams Im fine.

it will mesh right into the piston lol

there have been pictures on here showing jun3 cams and stock phk pistons. you dont need to open the pistons up much but it does need to be done. even with type r cams, ive seen pistures from those too

Save some money, buy a set of arias pistons made to be in a b20 with a vtec head and be even more happy. You won't need to worry about valves hitting pistons, and you'll haver higher compression, more power. But if you were to just use the stock pistons, have a machine shop open up the valve releifs like stated above ^^^^.

I've seen SMALL marks on pistons from valves with Pre '00 ITR cams on your setup... Might want to stick with something like GSR cams.
