Default Sputter bogging problem

Got a 90 honda civic ef hatchback with a ls swap its been having a sputter bogging problem on acceleration. and it will also do it if i put it back on gear and if the rpm is to low it will bog or sputter and. sometimes when i shift it will like back fire a black ball of smoke does any one know of this problem that can help me out thanks i would really appreciate the help.

Check your timing and scan for any codes.

Wouldn't black indicate a rich condition within the engine....
1. Is the car stock as far as ecu or fpr?
2. Any CEL currently on?
3. When you say bogging is it almost cutting off when going or is it just very sluggish?
4. Did this happen all of the sudden or was it after something was fixed or replaced?
