Default skunk2 pro2 idling issues

A little background:82.5mm bore gsr, crower valvetrain, forged internals, 12:1 compression, skunk2 pro2 cams

I had the car tuned last year and it was a poor job, car would stall on decel, had hiccups while at cruising speeds, and really was less than a joy to drive, car was totaled from the rear. I bought an integra and swapped the motor into that, I have had a phearable basemap in the car. It runs well while crusing, no hiccups, much much smoother, it idles ok while its cold, a little lopy due to the lack of a tune, but once it warms up it falls flat on its face. I have adjusted the idle screw, made sure that my tps is calibrated and the timing is all correct, am I going to be stuck using my old tune? or are there any suggestions or prior experiences any one has or has had which could be helpful

Get a new tune before you blow up, don't be cheap now

Need to take it in for a tune. The base maps are normally set up with stock cams in mind. Expect a slightly higher idle with the Pro2 cams.

I figured on the higher idle, I also know it needs to be tuned again. just wasn't sure if anyone has these or uses these and had any tips or tricks for the meantime..

The large primary lobes on the Pro Series camshafts causes the engine to run very rich at idle which is most likely what is causing the engine to stall once it warms up. The correct "fix" for this is a tune. Your tuner will need to pull fuel OUT of the fuel map in the 0-1500 RPM region of the map in order for those to hold an idle.

When you degree these cams in to Skunk2 spec's it will have a lope at idle but they do idle very strong around the 1000 to 1100rpm, mine I had 0 problems with it just takes time to get it right, the AFR's will need to be around the 13.5-14.0 to 1 at idle. What is your fuel system setup like pump/injectors/pressure reg and what tuning platform are you using?

Pretty much spot on with what Uncle Dave said. And protect your investment with an actual tune on your setup. Phearable recently did my tune with S2Pro1 and 85mm 12.8:1cr. Not a single issue.

Unless I am doing something wrong, with them set at 99 and 106, they idle like stock. Granted I have a 2.0 build. Maybe the RDX injectors are the magic trick?

I honestly was hoping to have a bit of lope. Call me a ricer.

I played around alot with mine I used ID1000cc and E85 in the end with the Victor X inlet manifold idled like stock with the ported ITR the lope was very nice.

Uncle Dave, why does the ported ITR make the car "lope" at idle and the VictorX doesn't?
I didn't think loping have anything to do with an Intake Manifold setup?

That doesn't really make any sense to me, but I am not doubting your experiences.

I am running a mostly stock P72 intake, RDX injectors, and Pro2s on a ~12.5:1 B20 cookie cutter bottom end.

I also had a hand in putting together a 1.8 81.5x89 with a P30 intake manifold and Pro1s using OEM injectors, and it doesn't have any lope the vast majority of the time. Once in a while when it is hot, there will be just a hint of lope at idle

Kind of interested to see what the next 1.8 81.5x87 does with Pro1s and a P72 intake manifold.

GET A NEW TUNE; My jun3's didn't "lope" the slightest bit on my B nor will an intake manifold have anything to do with that. The "lope" sound is caused by the additional lift the aftermarket cams provide to the valves.

You'll want 18-20 degrees in idle area, cams will like 14.3-14.0 afr at idle.

Well that's good but all it tells you is you have a healthy fuel system.

Do you have any way of monitoring/logging AFR?

i do not, right now i just adjust the throttle cable to sit at about 1200rpm, seem like its holding idle and i rev it.

That is not how you adjust the idle. The idle screw is about 11:00 when looking at the buttery. Your throttle cable should have a little slack in it.

I adjust the throttle cable alite tight so the rpm get stuck around 1200-1500rpm when I put it on neutral. I already adjust the idle screw on the TB and its almost all the way out

Then something is wrong. Check engine timing and valve lash to start. And maybe you should make your own thread.
