New skunk2 intake manifold to be released soon
I saw no mention of it or threads so I figured its time to get the ball rolling.

I know there's plenty of skunk2 haters but there's also many fans as well. Looks like a nice design, the b series aftermarket is still growing after all. Interesting how they configured the flange to adapt to pr3 and p72 heads.

Looks good on the outside but how does the inside look? Do they have velocity stacks on the ends of the runners inside the plenum? Very curious to see an inside view.

I would be very surprised if they didn't have stacks or a least tapered inlets. By only showing a few outside pics and marking the photo "top secret" they are trying to build interest and suspense in the product.

Looks like oem will still be better than their flashy marketing of their parts to get kids money. Pics of the inside will be interesting to see, but pretty much think a p73 intake mani will trump this one.

Nice set-up for K-series. Could see issues to the fire wall on B-series.
Kind of looks like Kinslers modular manifold. Just a lot cheaper.

I'm not a fanboy, just playing the devils advocate here.
This is a very baseless comment. Without any data or specifics how can you automatically shoot this down as no good? Your attempt to bash this product before it has been released or tried by anyone is foolish and ignorant.

Hey maybe this will be the 1 product that brings back their reputation of all the craptastic products they have produced...I did however say that im in for inside pics. Maybe you should disclaim at the top of your op..."Cannot give opinions"... For not being a "fanboy" you sure seem defensive over a s2 product.

Re: New skunk2 intake manifold to be released soon
I'm not defending it at all, just saying you better have info before dismissing it as garbage. I could care less if it's a top performer or pile of scrap aluminum. But it is nice to see a manifold layout that people have talked about having for years.
If the price is reasonable, there will be a lot of people watching. And regarding it as Chinese crap means nothing as 90% of the stuff for sale by h-t sponsors falls into the same category or country of origin.

IMO since short runners, looks like it's for B20v and K20s or big displacement/forced induction only.
Might work for smaller displacement, but doubt it.

This has been in development for a long time most dealers have known about it and just been waiting for them to be released.

Re: New skunk2 intake manifold to be released soon
so who is going to be the first to do a dyno comparison between the normal Sk2 intake to this new intake???
I have a feeling it wont have V-stacks in it. If they did they would prolly show that what everybody wants to see. But that's what im thinking.
Also it is for turbo applications
also this
Features:
-High-flowing tapered runners
-Angled runners for better flow and fitment

I had the old skunk2 jacked up mani for my h and it was garbage aswell with the worlds smallest plenum.

Re: New skunk2 intake manifold to be released soon
Reminds me of the old full race manifold. Relatively straight tapered short runners. I'd bet this thing is gonna work out great for high rpm 2.0l motors. Stockish 1.8 and 1.6 motors are still going to be better off with p30 p73 style manifolds.

Re: New skunk2 intake manifold to be released soon
Politics aside... Definitely not a daily driver part. Runners that short must push the power production very high in the RPM range. No thank you, but the idea of a modular IM is pretty neat. Swap plenums, runners etc to tune the powerband to whatever race conditions you have. Of course that assumes they'll be releasing other pieces for it.

Re: New skunk2 intake manifold to be released soon
those runners look awfully short, but maby they will have a variety of runner length choices, like they said they will have custom plenum sizing. i would like the idea of 1 intake mani that can be customized to work with any size or aspiration motor.
skunk2 is doing 1 of 2 things. ether comming out with a successor manifold to the pro series. (one that is better in every single way and designed to take its place). or appealing to a new market that the old proseries cannot reach. (turbo/large displacement). Or, all of the above. only time will tell. but im interested to see how it turns out.

Re: New skunk2 intake manifold to be released soon
That's what I was thinking on the runners. If its already modular it shouldn't be too much work for them to tool up for a couple of configurations. Maybe someone from skunk2 is reading this...

Re: New skunk2 intake manifold to be released soon
i think it's good that there's more options. the b16 and b18 already have designs that are proven and work well. s2 is obviously trying to tap the larger displacement and turbo market with this design.
