Default My new B20Z Non-vtec Crower III

Hi everyone
This is the 3rd time i built this kind of set up for my own.
But the 2 first one have'nt been machined properly so they did not last long,
the machined line bore is again the probleme so this time the base is:

The set up:
-B20 84mm stock, Decked by .030 so pistons are 0 to deck
- Hasting rings, cylinder honed
-B20 rods new berings
-Sandwich Vtec oil cooler
-B20Z notched pistons for P8R 33mm valves (about 10.2:1CR)
-AEM cams gears
-Crower 404 III cams Dialed In
-Crower Springs/retainers
-62mm JDM type R throttle
-Type R IM mods to fit NonVtec head
-P8R head shaved .020 Ported/flowed at:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/b20b-p8r-nonvtec-ported-head-flow-result-2709206/

- Race Big tube Tri-Y headers, 2 1/2" - 3" Staged exhaust
-J4D-LSD 2001
-New Exedy stage I clutch kit
- I will tune it on Crome Gold

My hope is 201Whp@7600rpm 161Tq@6200rpm
To run my Street legal Integra in the 12's
Hope you like !

Doesn't Crower recommend higher compression than that for the 404's?
Other than that, sounds like a decent parts list.

Hi
Yess 10.2 is my CR
The B20 P8R is a 9.2CR pistons but ending 8.8:1CR cuz of head bore 84mm
But my head is shaved by 20 tow so it will keep CR bit higher
and 30 tow cut on the bloc is raising CR around .5
also im using B20Z 9.6:1CR
I just trow my old B20 215Whp MAP in and lower a bit the fuel injected...
and i rev it till 6500rpm and find 13.0 AFR@6500rpm WOT using 44% injection on my injectors and the B20Crower III 215Whp was using 47% Sound good to me
And the feeling

Last time my friend spoke with Crower guys, and they where saying that 11.5:1CR was not enough for the 404's
But you know in life you must believed in your "2cents"
Type R CR is 11:1 and the R cams is way more agressiv than a 404...

i do have a friend that run
404 P8R ported head
stock 9.2:1CR B20
type R headers
my street tune
and run 12.9@102mph street 91 civic on slick
i do have to beat that ! LOL

Hight CR will be more profitable in head that have poor flow results,
a good head flow and intake vélocity will keep your compression hight @ a higher rpm and still making HP
The combinaison of Cams peak torque and intake peak rpm torque is not to be missed.

The P8R head is rebuilt with Brass valves guides
Guides remooved stage III street porting ( meaning not a all out porting)
Raceheads race valve job
All the set up is my own choice and i built the complete set up as i also port the head and fit the R intake on it.
i will also tune it myself.
I love Non Vtec as they produce bunch of torque @ low RPM, but they need a lill more knowledge in engine tuning. Tuning = the choice of CR, Headers, intake, cams and ECU programing, car weight, and car utilities, to make them perform good.

TY bro,
If i built a 2L GSR sleeved on Stage III Vtec cams and make 250Whp@8800rpm
this won't be interesting, It's been done and everyone saw one before,
also it wont be a RELIABLE motor reving that hight and probably not using enough CR to still be able using street gaz.
Since i built motors, i try to make bunch of torque and get good results for the HP at lower RPM
As the HP formula is (TORQUE X RPM / 5252 = HP)
There is 2 way to make them...
Try hard to get a light motor internal, long rods to rev it hard.. And hope it last
or keep stroke and make it breed and have a bunch of real power... (torque) RELIABLE

ive seen other nonvtec set ups creeping past 200whp.

but that seems to be the area. 170-200whp and varying torque.

Mine is almost complete and ready for tuning. Im around 11.1-11.3:1CR with Crane 0016.
(which I think the lift and dur are less then the 404's)

hi
i would say before taking a look on tne net to fint the spec that Crane 0016 have more duration that the 404 but less lift,
i do have a paire of 0014 in my hand, with my eyes i can see they dont look agressiv as Crower 403 cams...
Crower use easy power by giving lift to make more flow CFM in a shorter time.
Cane with more duration must need more tuning to find them power,
Has higher CR
And Cams Dial in

Nobody wanted to believe it, but here it is.
Many people seeking to have 200whp and invest the money on unnecessary parts or inadequate parts.
Make sure you consult an expert mechanic parts tuning and ECU.
the tuning begins when you pick your parts that you will use to build your project.
I have doubts myself about the possible power on the Crower 404, but it was my own mistake.
not that the cams was not good, but I couldn't find their proper operating position, (Dial In)
Even after you find all the right parts necessary to do the power,
It must be installed correctly and properly adjusted.

do not fight against the unknown, asked those who know share. LOL

those who like what I made and would like to have some information may PM

Wow, very nice stuff. I don't believe I saw any information regarding your drivetrain setup though. Trans, clutch, LSD, ect.

I also think a graph would really make this thread POP with good info Please!
