Re: LS/VTEC OIL LEAK.
btw any of you running oil cooler setup? i finally successfully installed 19 row cooler set up. car feels so much smoother at idle and when driving . i am hoping the oil was leaking out because it got so hot due to not having a cooler. the oil got too hot and expend lol
after changing the vtec gaskets and cleaning the dizzy there has been alot less oil leak. i'll update in few days how it goes with the cooler.

Re: LS/VTEC OIL LEAK.
I want everyone with this leak to perform a simple test.
i'd like to know if we all have the same spot leaking.
grab a paper towel and shuv it right under the intake manifold where the block and head meets. . cloesest to the leak.
which is where i have it circled in the picture
in my case the oil leaks from there and finds its way down to the left corner of the block like the picture on the first page.
go for a drive and cool down the car to grab the paper towel and see if its wet.
mine was little wet and it also had a hint of gas in it.
that is werid.
please let me know how it goes. .
i really REALLY want to figure this out.
and if you can please let us know how your build was. and what you have done to try to fix this oil leak.
here is mine.
i had my head cleaned and decked at a machine shop. but the block i got it used and i have not deck the block to make it flat.
i have replaced Cam seal cap, dizzy o ring, vtec solenoid gaskets.
after replacing them i do have less oil leak. but it is not fixed yet.
please share your story. thanks

Ok dude quickly tell me what has been done here
What dowel pins do you have
Has the block been checked for warpage
Has the head been checked for warpage
What head do you have
Have you used the correct torque settings for your head
What machine work has been done to your motor
What is the highest you have revved the motor to

Re: LS/VTEC OIL LEAK.
mine has a small leak too at the same spot...!!..
the only thing im having doubt is the head plug..
i did tighten it with teflon seal. resurfaced the head..
what are the chances it could leak esp... when i was having hard time screwing it in?
i used the inline 4 kit and their dowel doesnt work ****! i still have to drill the head in order to fit these dowel pins....

Re: LS/VTEC OIL LEAK.
I have this same annoying leak on my ls/vtec. B18A with B16 head. I used the golden eagle kit and th non vtec head gasket because thats what i was recommended with the kit. I used there dowel pins and did everyhting according to there instructions. Why is there so much confusion with which headgasket to use on these? What head gaskets are you guys using and has anyone ever resolved this problem entirely?

Re: LS/VTEC OIL LEAK.
I had the same issue and found the oil was seepin though the threads of the tap plug.so after removeing the head twice i screwed the tap down past the surface of the head and sealed it with hondabondand the leak went away just my .02 cents.GL

Re: LS/VTEC OIL LEAK.
Sources of front left corner leaks on LS/B20vtecs:
• Distributer O-Ring
• Missing Distributer bolts
• Cam seal
• 1/8npt Plug in bottom of head (Screw in tighter add Hondabond)
• Dowel Pins too tall
• LSVtec line leak running down head and traveling to front of block
Address all of these and leak will disappear

Re: LS/VTEC OIL LEAK.
mine was leaking by the dizzy, and it was not the oring but the seal inside the shaft. Also in the picture the coolant bolt is loose. Why is it loose anyway. The only thing I could think of would be the pcv valve or like you said a warp head, block,or head gasket.

Re: LS/VTEC OIL LEAK.
So since the vtec headgasket is recommended, can the non vtec headgasket cause this oil leak? Or does it just block the water passages? I was actually told to use the non vtec gasket when I put my motor together.

I will address this entire list (as ive found some oil seems to be on the lsv line) but I had to replace my dizzy since thecams ate the tabs off my first dizzy. I suspect the leak to be from the dizzy o ring. Will rrturn with updates if I can locate the leak.

Re: LS/VTEC OIL LEAK.
Update
Just for peace of mind, I went ahead did a few of the above mentioned things.
Changed VC Gasket (4th time for me, 1st time with RTV on cam caps.)
Tightened LS V line (Braided Stainless steel line to feed oil to the head, if you have LSV you know what this is)
Changed Dizzy O ring.
It seems there is NO MORE LEAK for me. I had the car up on stands and the passenger tire removed, there were no leaks on that side of the motor. I had ONE small (oil) drop come from the timing side of the motor. I will check it again, but the car was running for about 10 minutes.
Now I have some other issues that I'm sure are causing foul smell in the cabin and smoking (exhaust manifold) but there is NO OIL underneath the engine bay now.
I cut the dizzy o ring off with a razor I had - just be careful, create a slice, then remove it - too easy. The other slid right on - it costs 2.78 at Honda.
I'll come back here if it becomes another problem but I don't forsee it.
Oh - don't overtighten your LSV oil feed line. You will need a big *** wrench for it but not Triple H's amount of force to tighten it to the point where it won't leak.
Hope this helps someone.

Re: LS/VTEC OIL LEAK.
I bought a lsvtec integra this past fall and I'm having this same leak everyone is talking about. B18B1 block, B16 head (pr3). Mine looks like it's coming from two places. Could certainly be coming from other spots. One is the vtec solenoid. The thing was covered a bit with oil. The other is coming from where the block meets the head. If you look at the engine, head-on, it's the lower left corner, which seems to be seeping oil. Has anyone determined which is the correct head gasket to use with these lsvtec conversion motors? I remember someone in this thread mentioning that they were advised to use the non-vtec gasket with his kit he bought and has the leak. I think someone also mentioned they used a vtec gasket and has a leak. I just wanna know which to buy and get it installed, to stop the leak. The dizzy oring, if it's not too much trouble, could someone take a pic of exactly what that is? If it's something I could change myself, perhaps I'll do that, just as a precaution. Or perhaps just have Honda change it during my next oil change. Along with the vtec solenoid gasket too. Any help, would really be appreciated....thanks!

The dizzy o ring is a rubber ring/gasket...when you remove the dizzy you will know what we are talking about...mine was doused in oil when I pulled the dizzy. I got an o ring from honda and it was a pretty straight forward replacement.
As for your head gasket - if you really suspect that...grab a kit (easily found on line - I got mine on eBay) with GE equipment and the head studs that match the head you're using.
I thought my leak was the lower left but as soon as I replaced that o ring my leak went away.
Ls vtec can be done very easily with the Golden Eagle conversion kit. I'm starting my 2nd in a month or so, but since last year I've helped on 4+ lsv and they all have been pretty straight forward.

Re: LS/VTEC OIL LEAK.
thanks KPDSM....appreciate it. I actually didn't do the lsvtec build myself. I bought the car that way. Not a bad idea to buy the GE conversion kit, but if its just the wrong gasket thats on there, perhaps that could be a little more feasible, money-wise. Not sure.
