It's not my motor its a friend from work and he was just asking me wat he can do to get some HP but his budget is small and I happen to have a b16 mani layin around and was thinking about putting it on but not anymore..... LOL he said he was probably gonna get rid of it next year so I told him let me know before he does cause I would like it maybe for a future build. Never really messed around w the b20's always the 1.6 and 1.8

And when i say cheap I don't imply bad quality just the cheaper mods, mainly swapping out for better performing oem parts like the ls mani to b20z mani

stock b20 is a significant upgrade if coming from a b16. the increased torque from the extra displacement is amazing and with a short geared transmission is a ton of fun to drive. Of course you do lose top end speed but it is fine for daily driving and traffic.

This coming from a dc2 owner with a b20z and the super short jdm itr tranny and 4.78 fd

from the 1.8 LS/GSR/ITR block to the 2.0 b20b/z block theres alot of things you can switch around, swap around. The only thing you cannot switch around is the pistons from the b20b/z to the ls/gsr/itr blocks. The sleeves from the b20 are also different design from the 1.6-1.8L's. There's so much more to this but im not gonna type it all here.

if your building for power, the B16 is the last place i would look. IDK why kids think the b16 is the holy grail of honda engines?

I better give my experience....

The 99-01 crv in north america is called the B20Z as already mentioned. In Japan, it was still called a B20B, but could be easily identified by the low rise intake manifold, and the knock sensor on the back of the block due to it's higher compression. Also, the year of production is stamped in the cylinder head.

I found this engine to be well under rated in power. When it's not in a crv with bad exhust manifold design and not going through a awd transmmission, this engine hauls!! It is a lot faster than a B16, stock for stock!!

Also, they is a lot of miss information about the intake manifold on the B20Z. It is a low rise manifold that easily fits under neath the stock hood of a car. The air chamber design works very very well. I had people tell me to switch to an LS integra manifold from a B18B...so i did, and LOST power. Lesson learned.

Couple pics from my last B20 build
