Kteller magnaflow muffler???
Anyone have one of the straight through oval style on their car. How does it sound/look on a 2.5" exhaust with no resonator?

Re: Kteller magnaflow muffler??? (HighRevn)
I have a Magnaflow muffler...but honestly they sound kinda raspy (@ 2.5" diameter) with out a resonator thats why I always reccomend one with a purchase of a muffler.

I use these when I install my systems or sell the exhaust kits but always with resonators. For street use I recommend going with my 10436 resonator which is the longest one available in 2.5" and the 12216 5x8x14 oval muffler. Now even with these 2 pieces if you don't use a cat you will still get some raspiness but these systems are quieter than most available 2-1/2" systems.
What I like to do is make the axle over tubing custom and go with a round offset/offset muffler. The offset/offset helps cut down some more sound.
Here's a video of my built D16 (142 whp @ 6700 rpm) with a 300 cell cat, 22" resonator, a custom built resonator along side the gas tank and an offset/offset muffler all in 2.5".

Now i just want to make sure were on the same page here
You’re talking about the coffee can/fart pipe/fast and furious N1 style muffler right?
IF SO STOP right now do not even go anywhere near that thing
Resonator or not it is loud! i have a friend who has one
ALSO something you might not be aware of if with a lot of mufflers the inlet maybe from the pipe maybe 2.5 or 2.35 whichever pipe size you have put at the tail of the muffler is actually only i think around a 1inch and something
WHICH is going to restrict your flow NOW do not get me wrong i personally like magnaflow make some good stuff in my opinion but they also make some real ****!
Like there cat backs
IF i were you i would look into es tuning plenty of feedback on them here or do like i did with my setup straight pipe all the way no res or anything into a magnaflow muffler
item number Magnaflow (11215) i just flat back it it comes in either 2.5 or 2.25 inch
i got mine from a company called performance peddler if your interested let me know and i will look up the web address
But basically that’s about the cheapest place i have ever seen to buy anything magnaflow and are very competitive pricing! Also they sell on ebay
Hope this helps
Richard

You mean a bullet like this? http://store.summitracing.com/...w=sku
If so I daily with just that and 3" piping on my ls1 z28 , sure its a lot different motor but it's oddly tame till WOT ok I lied.... I have witnesses who have seen me set off car alarms at idle
Quiet in cabin and low rpm, off a honda it would just be none stop loud no tone just loud.
As far as the muffler is it's a great part well made other then for custom builds like mine, i'm not too much a fan of full magna flow systems.. they all seem to have a rasp to them. Not just a blatty but its like a signature rasp from that brand.
Honestly for a car with low displacment or needing to rev high unless its race only I wouldn't use it, maybe for a weekend toy.

They are made from stainless steel and are mandrel bent, comes with everything you need. Now how is that crap? If you want something smaller than 2.5" this is a nice kit.

ok then lets use the magnaflow cat back system for example if you shine a flash light into the tail pipe you will notice the side is smaller thus restricting flow!
thats why i was saying about
personally i like the es tuning and the magnaflow equivalent

If you look inside a universal Magnaflow muffler the tubing will look like it reduces. This is only because the ID of the inlet and outlet are expanded to be 2-1/2" ID. The core of the muffler is either 2.25", 2.5 or 3.0" OD depending on the model, but tubing is measure by the OD. So all these mufflers are built so that the installer can just slip the tubing in either side and weld it up.

Dude open header sounds better. It's very raspy without resonator. My buddy had to put on the resonator on his setup because it sounded horrible. Trust me I heard it

The original poster does...and some people don't enjoy getting pulled over on every street corner but hey thats us.
I have the Magnaflow oval but not with Kteller piping, just some ghetto Meineke 2.5" crush bent piping. When I first had it (without resonator), it was pretty damn loud/raspy. I didn't really care until I kept getting hassled/ticketed. I put on a cheap ebay 14" resonator and the raspiness is pretty much all gone, but its still quite loud. Maybe I should've got the offset/offset like Dave said
