A k20a is for a person who pretty much just wants to add intake, headers, exhaust n maybe some mild cams. It does not make sense to buy a k20a and pay more to replace everything that makes it a k20a. If your on a budget get a k20a2, you can peice together a swap for like 2500 or less. You telling us your budget would help alot aswell lol...

i would like to get out of this swap for 7k or less....so
buying a k20a for 5500 would pretty much blow my
budget.....but i am going to stay all motor but thanx for those tips i have never really thought of it like that...
7k includes buying the motor plust conversion kit.....i cant seem to find a cheaper way

And another K to get maybe some cams, intake and other bolt on stuff.

Just wanted to let you know that if using a K20a2, you will need either to get your hands on a JDM ECU or use a Kpro. The usdm immobilizer makes the usdm ecu unusable.

I like the RSX k20a2 motor for various reasons.

Remember that JDM motors get rated on 100 octane..

A rsx motor with good cams will make more power than a k20a with similar header etc.. Yes, you miss out on the LSD... but if you are serious about performance you should upgrade to a quaife or ATS anyway.

Shops buy them from wholesellers at around $2500 and then sell them to the customers at 3500-4000... Everyone in honda tech wants to buy parts and motors at cost... Well, somewhere along the line, someone has to pay taxes to uncle sam and someone else needs to make money.

That is exactly right, therefore, one can't get it for $2500 unless u got the hook up.

what seems to be the expensive part is the instal not he engine. The labor and parts for the instal is the biatch. I wouldn't mind paying $4K for the engine and tranny but the instal..........I priced in my neck of the woods and most shops charge ~12K for the engine, tranny and install........****!

Hate to say this, but most shops have not done the swap... I know several people that will do it for $1000 if you have the parts.

12k is overprice IMO. The swap to me was like the very first B-series swap I ever did. A lot of trial and error, but with a lot of searching, reading, and cursing it all came together.

Hardest part about the swap is gathering everything to need to do the swap.
http://www.K20a.org is a great place to start.
