Default ITB Velocity Stack Air Filter Cleaner

I'm tired of looking and finding information scattered everywhere. I know some of those of us with ITBs have been looking for filters. Thought I'd share what I've found to date as far as options, etc. All of the companies I called and spoke with were more than generous with the information and pricing seems to be fair. Just thought I'd throw this up for those looking for information. And others who have information (T-bone, Machine, 98vtec) feel free to add.

Peace out…and happy clean motoring!

My favorite so far:

VELOCITY STACK FILTERS
First of all, Velocity Stack filters are not Guaranteed in any way shape or form.
But if you are going to run a velocity stack on the street, these will help keep the road out of your engine.
Part # VELFIL001 is about 1/8" thick foam that can be cleaned and washed in soap and water only. This foam is between two honeycomb meshes, held together with a heavy duty rubber seal ring. This filter is held into the velocity stack w/ tape or sealer (not included).
Velocity Bootie

Part #'s VELBOOTS are a polyester material w/ uniform micron openings to filter out debris .005" or larger. This Bootie is great to keep the rain out. Held in place with an elastic band sewed into filtering material. Designed to fit Velocity Stacks 3-1/2" to 4" Diameter. Can be modified to fit on many other applications also. Cleaned and washed with soap and water only.

Could always put x filter over a vacuum (use a small floor fan backwards).

Have one tube filtered and one un-filtered. Might work. Just an idea to see how each filter works.

Nick is the one i am hoping to get a little feedback about the filters. I dunno how often he drives it tho and that would be a pretty big factor in how long it takes for him to get a good idea of how the booties filter.

here are mine, i got them for 20 dollars for the set:

The quality of the booties seems to be very good. They are much "thicker" than i originally thought they were going to be. If anything larger than normal, with a little weight hit the filters i dont think they would have any problem holding together. They made from polyester as well and from i have experienced with polyester in my short lifetime, its a pretty durable material.

I've only put about 50 miles on my car since I dyno'd, and I dont plan to use them except on fairly long drives. The dyno doesnt lie, but it also doesnt reflect the real world, and i have my hood propped up in the back to suck in air with a cowl affect, that wasnt mimicked on the dyno with a fan from behind or anything.

Most of my mileage other than quick drives for fun, or an autox or hpde, will have the filters on. So while most of the time they will be off, they will be on for most of my mileage.

be sure to keep me updated on how everything goes. I will be running the filters at all times. This is also going to be my DD so i will see much more mileage with them on than you will. Were you as suprised as i was in the quality when you got them?

Ran my motor for 14,000 + miles with no filters of any kind. Rain and all of Ct's weather conditions oin the summer.. I posted my teardown pics and was surprised that there wasnt more crap in the bearings and oil pan.. Looked close to normal debris levels.

for a great thread. I will show you a dyno sheet of the car losing 30 whp with filters on. I just bought mikuni carb filters and put them between the horns. Makes for a great fit.

yeah I have been into Reverie's stuff for a while. At one point I even tried to become their US distributor. The quality of their carbon work is INCREDIBLE. Also those airboxes can be made to order - just specify the diameter and spacing of the holes.

They also make some bare carbon race seats that weigh about 4lbs I believe. and a few other dope products.

Their stuff is now available through a Lotus specialist called Sector 111 in Temecula, CA.

is that the price for 4 or singles on that site?

Part # VELBOOTBK
Description Velocity Bootie Black 3-1/2" - 4"
List Price $19.95
Your Price $15.95

it seems as that is the price for a single. so you can order over $50 if you get 4.

$15.95 x 4 = $63.80

heres the direct link

I am thinking about getting ITB's when I do my 2 liter build here in the next few months.. Does anybody have a dyno of FILTERED ITBs vs a top of the market IM and intake?

I am not sold on that paying an extra 1500 on ITBs is worth the power gains.

search and compare dyno graphs. There are plenty of threads regarding both ITB's and nice Manifolds
