Default How DO I fix A Warped Cylinder Head ??

hello guys i just took the head off my motor so as to change the Headgasket.

and when i checked the cylinder head it seemed warped in the middle as there was a dip when i place a ruler across it !!

how can i ensure that the head is flat ???
will this be a big problem if i just put the head back on ???
if i sand the high area's so they match the low ones...should it be ok ???
what paper is best to use ??

any other advice please

put in in the oven, wait until its hot, and then bend it....

if its that bad it may be beyond the reaches of head milling....

Millign can fix it, but you will also need to figure out how that is goign to affect CR and piston to valve clearence at TDC. If there it is REALLY REALLY warped then I would suggest jsut gettign a new head.

its not warped very much maybe a 2 mm

ok i read if i use a service plate and abrasive paper of 400 (waterproof silicon carbide and i placed paper of the surface plate and rub against the gasketed surface ...if the warping is not too bad it would be ok.

i will check the surface again with a better instrument

if i get the head machined will it have a higer compressio ratio
and will i need to use cam gears to bribg it back into timing range ???

2mm is HUGE. like everyone said, take it to a machine shop and see what they say. if it's really 2mm, most likely it's not fixable.

and if you did resurface it, the cam journals could be off aligned causing the cam to lock up.

MotoCompo

Do cams like to run in a bent cam tunnel?

Something to Think About

Does milling the bottom the head fix this?
