Re: Header Test Repost (VtecKiDD)
how much are these RMF's? I want a new header for my R and was thinking about SMSP but if RMF makes more power and torque under moderate tuning... of course I don't know alot about tuning so someone can voice their opinion

Yes, in this "test" the RMF did wedge the SMS out, but there have also been comparisons where the SMS has made more power. Personally I think it all comes down to what you prefer as far as looks and your relationship with the builder. Both manifolds make a ton of power, and both are very knowledgable at what they do.....just comes down to how you want your engine bay to look

Re: Header Test Repost (clean rice)
yea thats true, I didn't see that the engine was all stock... My engine is heavily modified and I have a feeling with the SMSP header I prolly would make as much if not more with it over the RMF.

Re: Header Test Repost (totsie7944)
the RMF and SMSP did very well on my 2.0l motor an aanother 2.0l motor at DONFs shop.
SMSP has the graphs, where his header an RMF were tested against Hytech/RAGE header.
but it all depends on your setup, if one header was ALWAYS superior ro another, then there would only be one header company, not the many choices we have available today

Re: Header Test Repost (VtecKiDD)
was a/f ratio retuned with all headers or just bolt on and tune ?
thought I saw somewhere that one of the headers that lost also happened to be lean (14's) on the top end compared to the one that won (mid 13's).
so is overall assessment that one header is better than another or only for this motor ?

The test that VtecKidd is referring to wasn't done by me, it was done at DFE by DonF in Florida, I was in Virginia at the time of the test but yes I posted the results in this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1267136.
The RMF header used from the SRZ test that was done in April of 2005 was the exact same header used for the DFE test that was done in June of 2005.
RMF and SMSP had some discussions in May of 2005 (between the 2 header test dates) on header design in https://honda-tech.com/zeropost...40022 where RMF stated on page 2 the following,
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by RMF »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">You know and I know .When you build a set of headers .You go by the size of the valve and exhaust port,The RPM range that you want the most power at.And where it fits the best.Do you ask people if they have ITBs or a plenum style manifold when you build them headers. It doesn't matter. The head still flows the same.Unless they have some ridiculously small combo.that defeats the purpose
of a good flowing head. Its like the difference between a 1.8 and a 2.0 with the same head. It would take the same header.Maybe you can explain what would be different between the two headers?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Based on the above statement and discussions between RMF/Vteckidd and DonF the decision was made to use the RMF header on the B20 for the DFE test. So in May of 2005 it seemed that you didn't think the header design needed to be different between a 1.8 and a 2.0, but now you do. So noted.
