Default K20A2 Head work vs Cams?

If you had a choice between head work or Cams + valve train for a K20A2 head with stock bottom head...what would go with???

If by head work you mean porting, you are not going to get everything you could out of porting unless you have the heads flow tested so you know how much lift the cams should have. And if the ported head flows more than your stock cams provide, then sticking with stock cams is going to be a waste.

Well said above.

But if you have the motor appart, I would port it before I put it back togheter. Flow it so you know what cams to go with in the future.

Its easier to trow cams in at a later time than having to pull the head to port it.

It all comes down to what you are doing and at what stage the motor is right now.

PS: on my flow bench the stock k20a2 heads flow about 290cfm @ .500" lift (28" h20).

just go with the cams. the head flows enough air to support plenty of power
