First B-Series Build...
Sup everyone my names Kyle im 20 from Toledo,OH. I think im gonna need some help on this build, i hope ive come to the right place...This isnt my first build though, i have a d16 pushing 320whp and it is abused in autocross and at the strip. This is my first B series build and hope to make good power with this setup.
The setup:
B16a6 Head
B20b bottom end
B16 Si Tranny
The head is ported and semi polished, and completely stripped with ony the cam caps
I will be putting a supertech vavletrain in it(valves, springs, retainers blahblah)
Not sure what cams to run
IF YOU HAVE ANY PARTS FOR THIS HEAD, SUCH AS ROCKERS, ROCKER SHAFTS, THE TOP OIL PLATES. OR ANYTHING.LET ME KNOW! I WILL BUY!
As for the block, im debaiting to replace rods with carillos or leave stock, i want to have compression are 13:1 any suggestions?
i want to go .5-1mm over bore to get a fresh wall.
Please let me know if you have any parts available for this build and i will highly consider. No cheap parts please, quality only
Pics:
Again, please let me know if you guys have any suggestions for this build, i am going all motor and i want reliability and power. anything else i need to make this setup work? thanks Kyle

Re: First B-Series Build...
i would also suggest you use stock rods if your gonna use cast pistons....if you decide to used forged pistons then i would use forged rods, it just kinda seems like half ***'ing the bottom end

Re: First B-Series Build...
Thanks for the suggestions, the porting was done prior to my ownership. I got this whole set up for 270 bucks so I'm not complaining. You think I should just leave the bore then. Or get it sleeved? I thought that was more for boost

I paid 270 for block, head, and tranny, harness, ecu, and shift linkage. i don't know what kind of retard ported it, but I'm gonna try to clean it up

What are your goals with the build? 13.1:1 is race gas territory, I'd stick with 12.5:1. You can go 84.50 mm and be fine, block guard if your not confident. As far as cams, it depends on what you are looking for it to behave like.

Re: First B-Series Build...
13:1 was just a number to throw out there, 12.5:1 you can still run on pump gas? i was planning on a super tech block guard. and as far as goals, none are set right now, i just want to see what people are making with this setup. and as far as cams, i want it to be street able and something not too aggressive, but a good smooth power band.

Re: First B-Series Build...
Yes at 12.5:1 you'd still be alright on 93 octane. You can have it tuned on e85 too and you'd see a nice margin over the pump. There is a thread still floating around in the all motor forum so we won't get into how much we think you will make. As far as cams, I suggest the pro 1's. Best street cam out in my opinion, nice smooth powerband..

Re: First B-Series Build...
keep it at 12:1 ....im running 13:1 on 93 oct ant its fine....but for a b20 u can do 11.5 to 12 and still make good power and be safer...and if ur head has been milled you will still have some breathing room...at 13:1 you cant go back..

Re: First B-Series Build...
havent posted in a while, just been trying to get everything together. i am still deciding what pistons and rods to run but i think i came down to. carillo rods with 11.5:1 cp pistons.
