I used mobil 1 full synthetic for my two motors i've done. Both broke in quick, no oil burn really. I also broke the motors in on mobil. First engine saw 4 track days at 15 psi of boost, and is now in my daily driven honda. About 15,000 maybe 20,000 miles on that. The most recent same break in, only about 500 miles, i'm slacking this summer My question does it really matter? I've read books from engine builders and it said if you put oil on the cylinder walls it'll take longer to seat, but the rings should last longer, and vice versa.

do you mean spray wd40 on the piston walls before you start the motor up to get it broken it? Or just to install the pistons and rings in the cylinder? I'm a little confused, but this would be good info for me when i rebuild my motor.

I use mp-50. It is like wd40, but made by mopar. I get it free at work, & I think it is much better then wd40 because it doesn't dry as quick.
