degreeing blox cams
I'm rebuilding my roadrace 12.5 cr B18c engine and want to use Blox cams with skunk2 pro camgears. Head and block will be milled and all clearances (p2v, v2v) will be measured.
I have a question about degreeing Blox cams. I read that every cam has to be degreed in. But the Blox cams didn't come with opening and closing events or center line specs. How could these cams be properly degreed in?

Re: degreeing blox C cams
This is incorrect. All you need to do is install them at 0-0 and add any correction for milling or decking or using a thinner head gasket. Tune them on the dyno for best power and you'll be good. You can check the V2V clearances with the head off to see your safe limits of adjustability if you want and clay the pistons to get your P2V clearance range but that's all you'd need to do. Checking those clearances is far more importand than degreeing in cams.

Re: degreeing blox C cams
hey by any chance you have dyno graphs of the blox c's..im building a budget 12:1 compression lsvtec using a stock gsr head...i have itr cams but i dont know if they will work right with 12.1 compression..so i was looking at the blox c..its gonna be a 81mm ls with je 12.1 and scat rods..if i decide on building the head im a go with the blox c or sk2 tuner 2..or can i make good power on the itr cams since i already have the valvetrain..

Re: degreeing blox C cams
Would the cams not being degree'd when they were installed be the reason the motor I have not be engaging VTEC or would that be an issue that deals with the fact its not tuned yet and the cams (blox B's) are pretty aggressive?

Re: degreeing blox C cams
I hope its tuning that's the issue, that's coming August 4th, that would be nice. I'll post up the dyno sheets and video's after the fact. If its anything else that will turn into a nightmare almost definitely. The tuner told me that the fact it doesnt engage the VTEC could also be because of the fact the cams aren't degree'd.

Re: degreeing blox C cams
VTEC is engaged by the set RPM in the ecu as long as the car is up to operating temp, has enough oil pressure and the solinoid has the required pressure and voltage to engage. Degreeing or not degreeing cams has no effect on VTEC engaging or not, just the potential damage created from engaging it and not knowing where your clearances are.

Re: degreeing blox C cams
I ended up not needing my cams to be degree'd, they entered VTEC just fine once he had tuned on ECTune and did his thing. The car pulls like crazy right up to 8k RPM's, its good, a good starting point for me.

If you look at your graph, you can see the big dip at roughly 5300 RPM, I would move the VTEC engagement up to 5500-5700 RPM and that should remove the dip and make a nice transition into VTEC without a loss in power.
