Default Cam options

Got tuned last night and didn't make anywhere near the numbers I expected. My tuner said my cams are too big for my compression, and my vtec is at 6k. I'm running buddy club spec 4's in a 81mm GSR with LS crank and pr3 pistons. Final results where 196whp 144wtq.

My last setup was a piston and rod wiseco 12.5:1 setup ported head etc same cams and made 221whp 138wtq.

A friend of mine said he'd trade me his pro1's straight up for my cams, and I've also found some tuner2's for sale. Which one should I go with?

Neither cam will make more power than the BCIVs since the tuner 2 has the exact same VTEC lobe, and the pro 1 VTEC lobe is slightly smaller.

The Pro 1 will make more power everywhere below 7k though.

That's pretty high torque for those power numbers. What header and intake manifold are you running?

Idk what the issue was this is my setup;

PnP w/ 5 angle GSR head
Milled 0.005
BC Flat Face Valves
super tech bronze guides
BC dual valve springs
K20 retainers
BC spec 4 cams (0,0)
OEM spec cometic head gasket

GSR block 81mm
LS crank/rods with ARP's
OEM Pr3 pistons
Wiseco piston rings
All acl race bearings

Skunk2 ultra street intake manifold
74mm throttle body
3" intake
Highend Tri-Y header
RDX Injectors
Walbro 255
3" exhaust

Got tuned on 93, unless I got screwed. The only difference between this motor and my last are I used a OEM piston and rod combo instead of spending $700 on a forged piston/rod.
Same people did the port work, but my 12.5:1 LSvtec using b16 head and different intake and headed made 221whp 138wtq.

Was this run on the same dyno? Numbers are just numbers until they are proven on a track...

Curious as to why you have all this work done but didn't bother setting the cams or tuning them. Post up a dyno graph for us to look at. I bet there is plenty of power to be found by adjusting cam timing. 0,0 is nevr a good setting for aftermarket cams.

Same dyno and I'm waiting on him to email me my graph. I will post it later and I will more than likely go to a different tuner in a week or so after I see what you guys have to say about my graph.

I'm taking it to the 1/8th mile tonight to see what my traps are.

If I remember right those cams will like to be advanced a decent amount, and have a few degrees of separation, at least from other graphs I have seen. You should be able to carry power to 8500 easily.

So before you made 221/138.... this time you made 25 less HP, yet MORE torque?

Again, something isn't adding up.

I'd need to see the graph.

Where'd you get the cams?

Exactly what I'm saying. They're the same cams I used in my last motor. I'm waiting on him to send me the graph now. And I need to adjust my valves also.

Like I said before the only difference is I used a b16 head last time, performer x intake, and a rmf narrow replica header and compression was 12.5:1(one point higher).
