LS VTEC oil line thickness?
My LS VTEC is fukin slow. compared it to my frenz motor and the only diference is that my oil ine is like 4 times fatter than his. Do i need to reduce my oil line size to get more oil pressure to the head or something?
My vtec kicks in but i feel my car lag big time it's slower than a stock LS
HELP

take off your valve cover and check your cam gear timing, also timing belt mark. when i first installed my b20 i felt so much lag ,felt slower than my old ls block, then i checked the cam gears and timing was off by 1 teeth. after that it was torque heaven

if your oil line is the wrong size im pretty sure the vtec wont kick in! what i ve found the best is to run it off the oil pump! a 90degree from oil pump straight to the head where ls/v is normally tapped! run a 6an....alll the cars have never had any probs with this...but u gotta get a longer alternator belt so the 90degree fitting can fit! it all imo....

I personally believe the bestsetup is the oil filter adapter and a -6AN line. What size line are you running. I know guys run the -4AN with no problems as well.

not if you have a vafc, vtec will activate regardless

It doesnt matter if you have a VAFC or not. VTEC wont engage if the oil pressure isnt there. The only thing the VAFC does is turn the solenoid on at your desired point... Drive with one quart of oil in the engine and tell me if Vtec still works.

nah i'm good, i'll take your word for it but are you saying because the oil line is so big that there wont be enough oil pressure to activate vtec?
yeh i know i have a dirty engine bay, i'll get around cleaning some day lol theres so many things to fix in the car

Im not running a big line at all, I am using the same size, as ur's 91int.ls.
But TSR is correct, you will not engage vtec if you do not have enough oil pressure.

the larger the hose the less pressure! vtec needs a certain amount of pressure to activate! not sure what size line that is but 6an is the biggest ive seeen personally! i would only run that off the oilpump....but thats me!
