Anyone know if theres a way to hold the cam shafts in place when breaking the bolt connecting the cam gear to the cam shaft and then torquing the new ones down so cams dont spin and possibly hit the piston and bend the valves or give me an inacurate torque reading? or do I have to remove the cams in order to install new cam gears on them?

there are holes through the cam towers and the cams. use a drill bit that fits the holes in the tower

you can try holding the crank from keeping it from spinning.
or use an impact wrench.

when you're tightening it, just put it in gear and make sure you tighten the timing belt tensioner or else you're going to slip some teeth on the belt. 42 ft/lbs (assuming it is a vtec cam) doesn't feel like alot when you're torquing it.
