12.5:1 JE Pistons in a LS/Vtec setup is it to high?
I am thinking about tearing down my B16 and going LS/Vtec. I am going to take my built head from the b16 and use it on the new setup along with my JE 12.5:1 pistons. My concern is my head is milled .30 and I am afraid that the pistons and head might make the compression a little to high for pump gas.

I know tuning will be necessary. I also was worried with valve clearance. Also running eagle rods what should be a safe limit as far as reving goes.

Advertised compression ratio's from JE are measured @ 0 Piston To Deck .
B-series sit -0.30 In the hole.
So w/ your head milled it'll should be 12.5
What cames are you running?
btw, I can get you a set of JE's for $400 w/ rings and pins.

valve clearance should be ok as long as you dont run a huge cam. Are you decking the block at all? I thought my compression would be 11:3:1, and after my block was decked it lowered the piston to deck height to .011 and my compression became 11:9.4:1. My pistons are srp 11:8:1 (149213 part number).
Just make sure you tune it as soon as possible. If your using je chrome rings, I'd suggest having the machine shop run a rougher grit on your cylinders so they seat faster. Mine is at 1200 miles and is still climbing on compression. Typically chrome rings take 1200-1500 miles to completely seat. (This is according to AEBS) I'd still suggest some tuning after the initial ring seating (first 30 minutes to hour of driving) to make sure you don't break it in too rich or too lean.

I may block the deck because I did my B16 block. I am going to reuse the JE pistons that are in my b16 now. I haven't had them in long. I am just going to buy new rings. As far as cams I may run Toda spec B's.
