so i just bought an acura tl and when i bought it, it seemed fine. shifts perfect and everything. But when i put it into reverse or into drive it takes a while to engage. the other day i was at a stop light to make a left and the light turned green so i let off the brake but the car didn't move. i gave it some gas and it would rev like it was in neutral. this was kinda embarrassing cuz then all the car behind began honking. tried shifting through the gears and nothing would engage. light turned red once again and i decided to turn the car off and turn it back on, put it into drive and bam it engaged. So that caught me off guard. what would be the problem to this??? so I've already did some research and found out that these tls have tranny issues, but what should i do? dealership or tranny shop?

If u want ten years of reliable shifting buy dealer trans if u go cheap aftermarket get ready to get built every few years

Not currently but was a head tech of acura for three years now I run my own shop

Is it possible to just buy the transmission from the dealer?
