Re: IF YOU NEED A RADIO CODE, PLEASE READ THIS THREAD.
This method only works if you disconnect and reconnect the battery. You can retrieve the serial number by turning the key to position II, keeping pressed 6 and 1 and pressing radio power button when radio is off. The serial will display as complete 8 digits number or two groups of four digits whit a letter in the front. Forget the letters, you need only complete string of 8 numbers. If you live in USA you can use https://radio-navicode.honda.com/ website to retrieve your the code. If you live in Canada you can call the dealer to get the code. The dealer should not charge for this. Dealer only needs radio serial number to get the code, but for security they might ask other questions.

Re: IF YOU NEED A RADIO CODE, PLEASE READ THIS THREAD.
I have a '92 Accord, too old for the "1 and 6" trick. But two years ago, when I first bought it, I needed the code to make the radio work, and I _found_ this code online, simply by entering the VIN. Now, having gotten a new battery, I need the code again, but the website that helped me before has either been changed or taken down. Every site and everyone I talk to at North American Honda tells me that I need the serial code of the radio in order to recover the radio code. But this is obviously not true, since I recovered it two years ago with nothing but the VIN. Could someone tell me WHY Honda requires the serial code now? Could you just let me use my radio again?

That sounds great but doesn't work for my car bought in Spain. I've got a Honda Civic 2004 radio code requiring. I found a vin # and a serial. Filling the form at radio-navicode.honda com multiple times I see error:
But I'm pretty sure I can write those 17 characters down and tried it couple of times. Help me please.
The VIN you entered is not valid. Please verify the number and enter it again. Valid VIN numbers use the letters A-Z and numbers 0-9, except for the letters I, O, and Q.
