Re: are crv's good cars? (moreno)
My wife has had hers for just over a year and it's been nothing but great. The only complaint is a couple of light rattles.
It would take some very aggressive driving to flip it. Tell her friends to get a clue.

Is she looking to buy new or used? I would suggest she go with at least an '02, the latest generation. The '01's and older are not nearly as nice. As for roll-overs, it does have a higher center of gravity, but you've got to get into a very extraordinary situation for that to happen. I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure you wear your seat belt. Most deaths occur in roll-overs because the occupant gets ejected.
My wife loves her '02. I don't care for it, but then, I don't drive it either. I'm sure your girl will love hers too.

Re: are crv's good cars? (moreno)
the main complaint with most owners, as well as me.... is the lack of power that the 1st gen cr-v's have. the 2nd gen (new ones out) have the 2.4L 162hp 164tq i-vtec engine. i've test driven the car, and its a BIG improvement. if you're able to convince her to get a 2nd gen, i would say it'll be a better buy. i'm also assuming she'll be getting a good deal since its a 98. keep in mind that the 2000+ models have the SE (special edition) which in my opinion looks a lot better then the normal ex/lx versions. (hard tire cover, chrome grill, leather seats, color'd body molding).

Re: are crv's good cars? (azndng)
in my opinion... 1st cr-v's dont lack power.. the EARLY years of the cr-v was whack, BUT the later 1st gen(99-01) the power weas increased.. honda issued a new intake manifold with new thorttle body for it. the engine was now called the b20z2 not the b20b. it contains a knock sensor and the sticker on the car says "146HP/135tq" thats not so bad for the weight of the car. its just like a 4door accord or 4 door integra.. not too far off. and well.. i guess a 2.4 162hp engine is A LOT better than a a small 2.0. i have no idea about gas economy on the 2.4.. but i know for a fact.. the 2nd gen cr-v's look like ***. i like the engine and what not.. but thats it.. the "volvo inspired" brakelights are just plain gross..
why buy this..
when u can buy this...
btw.. the blue one is for sale.. email: jdmeverything@hotmail.com for more info

the first gen crv is built off a civic chassis and has a different body, yes a little more top heavy but i still cant imagine a civic w/ an x-mas tree on top flipping over..... **** i hope u understood that.
