wat??? If u dont like the leather sell it and use that money to pay for like u said jdm conversion. But i dont think thats a reason to buy a base over types unless u dont care about performance at all. B/c ur not paying extra just for leather lol.

LOL you dont pay all that extra money only for the leather interior. You could sell the leather for some good money and put in whatever seats you wanted anyways.

Yea but like he said it would be better to just turbo a type s b/c u get so much more hp then. Ive been in a base and ive been in a type s its one of those things where its just better to spend the extra money to get the type s.

lets say i get a srt-4 for 12.5
then i can rip your boosted base
the type-s cost more for a reason
if you want the best power:cost ratio, find a bike

Re: RSX Base vs RSX Type S (Master23)
base rsx-160 hp
type-s-200 hp
also bought the car bc there is so much potential with the motor...thats what everyone says...
but if u dont care bout performance like everyone has said i would def get the base bc its an auto and its alot cheaper
both great cars though juss performace and sporty difference

Re: RSX Base vs RSX Type S (STEVE-O7)
my whole point was not sayin im goin to boost just to say oh i spent the same amount as a stock type-s n now i got a base turbo.. i said for the time being it made no sense to spend that extra 4.5k for the 6th gear.. hell if i would have found a reasonable price type-s i would have jumped on it quick

Re: RSX Base vs RSX Type S (risktypeS)
yeh I found a couple 02's for 12-13 but with full ebay exhaust setups riced out tailights ugly body kits it would have been a hassle to get it oem

i dont even know how u got this many resonable responses on HT, so ill go ahead and say wtf u talkin about.. u say u know the specs then why ask? the reason people bought the type s is the reason they make more then one trim level for everycar ppl want options and not everyone wants the same slow thing. im sure ur parents are asking why they had u u dumb bastard

Re: RSX Base vs RSX Type S
Would it be cheaper to buy a base RSX and then do a type S conversion in terms of front bumper, lights and such? I was thinking of doing this because dudes are taxing for them Type S (can't blame them though)

Re: RSX Base vs RSX Type S
I was referring to the 2002-2004 base model since they don't have the facelift...I would buy the 2004 base and just type S convert it if its cheaper than doing a full on dc5 conversion.

I mean K Pro is $700 and even a cheap dyno tune lets call $1000, so that leaves $3500 for
$1000 Clutch
$500 Exhaust
$500 Manifold
$500 Turbo
$500 BOV & WG
$250 Intercooler and piping
$250 Injectors
$100 Fuel Pump
$250 Fuel Rail and lines
$250 ARP head bolts and head gasket
Those are pretty low estimates and even then if you want to get the power to the ground and do it right you would want to do
-Suspension (coilovers)
-Machine work (id have the head milled and oil bungs welded)
-Fluids
-Tie rods, wheel bearings, ball joints, etc
-Alignment, new tires
-Other stuff I am forgetting

Re: RSX Base vs RSX Type S
if you want cloth seats in a type-s, i don't see why you couldn't just swap the leathers out for cloths if that is the only issue your having. I bought a type-s over a base for the performance gains, and i like the idea of a 6-speed transmission.

Am i the only one who realizes you guys are quoting people from 2007..... its literally about to be 2014, who knows if they even have the cars anymore.
Why cant new people read the dates before they drag up a pointless 7 year old thread to quote and disagree. That was someone elses opinion almost a decade ago... let it go...

In this day and age, it comes to down value and intentions. Both the base and type s have so many options, and any engine and tranny combo can be easily swapped in a day.
The best deal in any situation is cost!!!

Re: RSX Base vs RSX Type S (SpEeDyX)
ive been boosting hondas for 10 years now and as far as turbo setup goes they have all been under 4500 bucks, even the turbo kit that goes low 11s. (granted the motor was about 7 grand but not the turbo components themselves). you've gotta be able to do your own installation and tuning to save cash money.
anyway, what about buying a base and doing a k20/k24 motor or just swapping in the straight k24 they seem relatively cheap and accessable. buying a used s worries me that it was abused at some previous point in its life

Im still missing where you can turbo and do it right for under $4500.

Re: RSX Base vs RSX Type S
ive owned a type s and just bought me a base. reasons being: cheaper car, cheaper insurance, dont have to use premium gas, and the base has plenty of power for a daily driver. i rarely hit vtec and took it to the redline in my type s so i honestly dont notice any difference in performance based on my driving habits. i like the cloth seats better too cause i dont slide around in them. i do miss the bose stereo in the type s though. my base is a great daily driver
