Need help with RSX Starter or Altenator?
So my gf has been having issues with her RSX starting in the morning. Every morning, she would go to start her car and the battery would be dead. Not completely dead but there wasnt enough juice to power the car. I did some research and found that maybe something was draining the battery overnight and when I connected my meter in series to the negative battery post and negative battery cable that I was getting a draw of .440A. I removed the fuses one by one and found that the draw was comming from the back up fuse. I removed the aftermarket radio and the draw went down to .250A when I tested everything again. The car sounded like it was starting better but the next morning the battery would not have enough juice to start the car. Once I came home from work I decided I would try to jump start it and even after letting my car run for about 10 mins connected to her's it would not start. It has a brand new week old battery so I know the battery isnt the issue. We are getting proper voltage on the battery as well. Roughly 12.8 volts not running. Im about to have it towed to a shop tomorrow and have them look at it but I rather repair it myself if someone can help me diagnose the issue.
Heres a quick video of the issue:

Ignore my car running in the backround. You'll hear the RSX trying to start around 10 seconds in.

Just had the same problem, sounds like her starter is on its way out! tap the transmission casing close to the starter(starter cannot be reached until you remove the intake manifold) than try to turn it on. If it turns on get ready to replace the starter!

Maybe drive up to autozone and have them test your alternator if you get it to start! Good luck

it sucks the starter is in a **** place... or I would say just jump the starter to see if it turns or pull it out and manually jump it which is a lot of fun lol

We had a family friend who is also a mechanic look at it and he also thinks its the starter. I just wish I could check the starter for voltage. I think we're just going to replace the starter and go from there.

cool... dont forget to remove the stupid radiator front bumper support when pulling out the intake manifold otherwise you end up with a headache

So I finally removed everything and got to the starter. The only thing that sucks is one piece broke. Its a small vaccuum hose that goes from the intake pipe to a piece near the head. It also has another vaccumm line comming from the other side and then it screws into the head I believe. Anyone know what it is? I'll post a pic up shortly.

Its this part here (the one with the vaccumm hose connected on the top). As soon as I pulled the vaccuum line it just broke right off. If anyone knows what it is please let me know asap. I would like to put the car back together tonight.

thats the injector warmup bypass valve. I wouldn't be worried about it. You can just remove it and cap off the vacuum lines and plug it. Or you can buy a new one if you really want it. Or I've seen guys just glue that broken side closed and cap the intake only. Your choice.

Would anything come out of the broken part on the valve? I may cap both vaccuum lines for the time being until I get a new one incase it has to be ordered.

I ended up buying a plug for it and caping off the vaccuum lines. For anyone wondering, its an M16x1.50. I don't think removing the front bumper was really necessary but it was easy enough to remove. The car is back together and runs finally lol. Thank you for all the help.

Re: Need help with RSX Starter or Altenator?
So i read that the valve is not available from Acura unless you buy it with the whole coolant assembly (19350-PRB-A00) but I also read that you can buy the valve alone from a 07 Civic Si. I did some research online and I believe I found it. Is it part #8 in this diagram? http://www.hondapartsdeals.com/hpa_p...nGroupID=14584 Also, is the valve removable without taking the whole assembly apart? I have an o2 sensor socket which is the same size as the valve but will the horizontal piece on the valve have enough clearance to thread in?

you can't remove the valve without removing the housing because that arm will hit... or you can just break the arm and use a cresent wrench lol
