how to check timing tensioner?
is there anyway to check and see if my timing chain tensioner is ok to reuse? i replaced the timing chain and put the old tensioner back on.. and rotated the motor about 7-10 full rotations and it seems to be ok according to the timing marks. but while its ripped apart i wanna make sure it will be safe to run like this? it's my wifes car and we're really strapped for cash.. so if i could test it and reuse it, It would be really really helpful!
here's the timing marks after the new chain with the old tensioner installed.

Re: how to check timing tensioner?
i never reuse them.. they are a wear down and **** your world up item. acc belt tensioner like the one posted in the pics above are good untill u can see they are out of spec and since they do not cause immediate engine failure upon failing are less important to replace.. engine timing tensioners are to always be replaced, because when they fail the engine fails and then yer out more money in the end.
