Honda MTF - sucks??
I bought my car six months used and it was stock. It had Honda MTF in it and I changed it to Redline MTL. The Redline was great. I never had any grind issues and it really made the tranny shift smoothly. When it would go into a gear, it slid in very easily without feeling the gears mesh. I just switched the fluid out this time with Honda MTF. Now, I feel every gear go in and mesh together with the shaft. No grinds, but much more harsh than with the Redline I used prior. Any ideas? I don't like it and I will switch back ASAP, but does anyone know if this is normal feel for a tranny with Honda MTF?

honda doesnt even use honda fluid.. for the rsx they typicaly will put a syncromesh in to help prevent grinding. i would sugest you put RoyalPurple or amsoil back in it.

i need to decide on something to use. i have 20k miles on my car and my tranny is starting to act up. Shifting at 4000 with the clutch pedal down all the way and it'll be real rough getting into 2nd gear sometimes.

Honda MTF doesn't suck -at least to my car! She LOVES IT!

My gears were grinding so bad at 45K, i thought i needed new synchros...
but i used the new HONDA MTF when i changed mine- and NO MORE GRINDS!
Here's a link- i did a DIY write up about it.

i changed it before Thanksgiving... and i still haven't had any grinding,
and YES! ...it has been -20 BELOW (or colder ) many times this last months.
No issues Yet!
i still do the "1,2,3,4,3,2,1,2,3,4,3,2,1" trick... (damn voo-doo rituals!)

That's retarded to even say. HONDA uses HONDA MTF... Just because some DEALERS don't, doesn't speak for the whole company. The NEW Honda MTF is a lot better and many people are saying good things about it. I like it, I swapped mine and it seems a little better. To each his own.

Re: Honda MTF - sucks?? (mormonboy)
I just use the MTL. I once mixed one quart MTL and one quart MT-90, but I noticed no difference from just MTL. Redline states that the MTL is a direct replacement for Honda fluid, so I just use it alone.
