I was watching what he was doing and all he did was remove the Serpentine belt and crankshaft bolt. I did replace the crankshaft sensor thinking it was that.
Sounds like the mechanical timing is probably off.

To replace the front crankshaft oil seal, the timing chain must be removed. The chain was probably re-installed one link off from TDC1.

I don't think so with this engine. here's link https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1541001&type=3

Well whatever that seal called. the timing chain wasn't messed with. that's the one he replaced.

Truly sounds like a timing issue. Bring the car to a Honda specialist or a dealer. If all you say checks out. The car should be running.

P.S.

There is no way of replacing any seals by just removing the crankshaft pulley bolt. If it was replaced in the method shown in that Facebook post who knows if the clearances are right.

From factory manual:

The best way to test the immobilizer and ECU will be the dealer. Otherwise you will have to follow a very lengthy troubleshooting process as outlined in the factory manual.

I just towed the car to another shop after it sat there for a month. Its the same mechanic but he just works there. Get a call from the owner shop. Says its the computer and he needs to pull the dash to replace is which is total bs because i know the ecu is right behind the glove box. He wants to charge $300 just for labor plus the cost of a new ecu. Right now i have to decide if ill eat the cost or just tow it home. I found a used ecu locally for $100. How much does it cost to reprogram it. Have to factor in towing and maybe diagnosis fee,but im feeling im getting ripped off by him saying he needs to remove the dash. Serious cant get a break with these mechanics.

300 is ripped off to you?

For 200 dollars less you are about to get used part from someone local. And then have to find out how to get it programmed.
I rather have a shop back it up with 300. Unless you just enjoy doing the work yourself.

300. To pull an ecu that has 3 bolts and 3 plugs? Im not sure if thats gonna be the cost of programming it too. And that's not including the part. He saying some bs that he needs to pull the dash to get to the ecu. So it will be at least 300. Im fine if it wss 300 total.

Honda and Acura dealers wanted me to pay 160+ just to change my drive belt.
lol.

So 400 sounds good to me since your car isn't running. Have you talked to them? Like... Hey so exactly why do you guys have to pull the dash(etc etc)?
I'm pretty sure you have to pay them for diagnosis already, eh?

Bring the car to Honda!!!!!

These guys are ripping you off... $160 for a belt that costs $38 from Honda and its just an on off exercise no timing or any BS... you need a 14 mm wrench to do it and the belt... $160 is a lot for 5 mins of work..... Spend the $100 on the factory manual...

I didn't pay them diddly squat.
I'd do it myself rather than pay that much for changing my belt. That's like paying 160 dollars to change the belt that holds up my pants.

Already know. Anyhow just got a call from the shop today. Said it's ecu, and said i have to get car towed to dealership to install a new ecu and get it reprogram. Can i tow the car home and just remove the immobilizer, and key and bring in a used ecu and get them to program it or does the whole car needs to be there? Used to driving older cars without all this security. Dont feel like getting raped by dealership. Any other alternatives.
