Default Acura dealer just calls my friend back and tells him this

As you requested I tried to check your tranny fluid in your rsx type s to see if there was any metal shavings in there. I ran into a problem though. Your transmisson does not have a dip stick b/c it is manual. My friend goes okay so whats the problem? The dealer goes there is no way to check the fluid without a dip stick. My friend is still like and this guy is working on my car.

Yet another reason not to take your car to the dealer.

The only way you will see my rig up at the dealer would be if I am looking for some FREE parts under warrenty. Haven't had to do that yet though.

Well, maybe they're trying to say that there really isnt a way to check for metal shavings without draining all your transmission fluid and refilling it... they charge for that, but you should be doing it yourself.

SO who is dumber....

Your friend for asking the guy to check and oil that cannot be checked without draining and refilling.......

Or the dealer for not pretending to tell him it was fine even though there was no way to check it?

Seriously, in order for the guy to check the oil, he would have had to drain the fluid and fill with new fluid. That would cost your buddy money, which he almost assuridly did not pay for.

It would be hard to check for metal shavings on a dip stick anyway... much better results if you drained it even if it had a dipstick.

Well being that my friends motor is completly fucked hole in block and bent vavles. He needs a whole new motor I am sure he could care less about them draining the fluid. He was trying to figure out if he needs a new tranny also so he knows which route to go either have them replace the motor and him pay for it or get a type r swap and have me do it for him.

No way to really check for metal shavings without taking the tranny apart. There is a magnet in the tranny next to the diff. Some use the Spoon magnetic drain plug, but that won't collect all the shavings, cuz of the internal stock magnet.

Best bet would be to drain out the fluid into a bucket and go from there since you don't need to have the transmission working.
