05 civic si new alternator vehicle won't start
Hey guys,
I have a 2005 honda civic si, and a few days ago my alternator went out. I ordered a replacement alternator and just replaced it today, which required taking of the front bumper and loosening the radiator. After replacing the alternator and hooking everything back up, I charged the battery a while and tried to start the car.
When I first tried to start the car, it cranked and started up, but within a second the car died and now the the starter will crank but the engine will not turn over.
Does anyone have any idea what caused this? Is it possible for the serpentine belt to be too tight for the pulley system to turn? I'm at a loss here.

I believe you can short two pins in the DLC (data link connector) and pull the codes by reading the blinking CEL light. Try a Google search.

Check your fuses. I blew my alternator fuse on my k20 earlier this year and it wouldn't allow the engine to get ignition, the engine would crank like crazy but wouldn't start. Sounds like a possible culprit considering you just installed an alternator.

Hi Guys, hope everyone is having a great time. What is the difference between Serpentine Belt and V-Belt? I have my Civic 2005, and the dealership said that both belts needs to get replaced as soon as possible. The cost for Serpentine Belt is $99.99 and the cost for V-Belt is $79. I just want to make sure that I am not get ripped off. Thanks for your help guys!
