GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS
With the Acura NSX exhibit in Monterrey, CA (beautiful place) comes two press releases that give some insight into the next gen NSX.
1) It's going to be a monster. Hand built engine benchmarked with some of their racing programs. Pessimistics will obviously point to Honda's disappointing F1 engine program but I'd say that having this spec in a much less complicated car is much better than I expected.

2) Production is delayed until spring 2016. Will all of the bitching about how long this car is taking, it's been delayed some more. And done under the radar so to speak. But if the extra time is needed to firmly iron out the drivetrain, then it's the right move. So bittersweet news.

Bonus - here are the specs for the cars shown including trim level packages, interior and exterior color names, and audio details.

Re: GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS
Love the way the interiors turned out.
Production delay: I can't imagine that it's the same thing, but one of the issues with the 5G Legend/RLX Sport Hybrid was reprogramming the torque vectoring...even after some of the cars had been built and waiting for shipment.
Is there still a shortage of high quality lithium ion batteries and battery box electronics?
The RLX faced a shipping problem that the NSX will not face: They had to demonstrate that the crash tests of the USDM RLX were relevant to the RLX Sport Hybrid, considering the extra weight and physical security of the batteries.
I don't think we're ever going to know why cars had to sit in a field outside Saiyama for close to a year before they were shipped, and at least we know the NSX won't face that problem...whatever it was.
You can bet your bottom dollar that when Ohio finally starts production, we'll sure as hell know about it...pretty much instantly.
:-)
Do you have your eyes on the NSX Sport Hybrid, assuming you can get one toward the end of 2016?
I can't wait to see them on showroom floors, but I think the car's bottom line price is going to be more than I can justify, reasonably.

Tough call.
I was supposed to track one late this year but, obviously, that's not going to happen now. So maybe Summer of next year. I have a feeling that that experience will have a big influence on a decision.

Additional GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS:
1. The block and head are coming from Cosworth. Great news.
2. It'll have 47 computers. Woof.
Acura NSX will use Cosworth block, plus other neat tidbits

I guess I'm the only one to think the interior is too bland, too acura.
Hopefully it doesn't have the same problems they're having with the F1 car. Can't wait to see one in person and on the road.

I think the sequential/pdk/twin clutch/etc boxes will surprise you. Obviously, there are those that are dead set against them but I don't even miss them on track and certainly wouldn't on the street.
The first gen was "bland" as well but it was a selling point for me. Purposeful, business like, devoid of distractions, with an extremely open canopy. It's certainly not a Huracán or 458 interior. But Acura is letting the customer choose a lot.
When the configurator comes out: I'm spec'ing white exterior and red/black interior.

My daily driver is a huge 5G Legend.
If you just floor it from standing still, 0-60 is 5.3s.
If you hold first and stand on the brake pedal...0-60 in 4.89s.
You can't shift that fast. :-)
And the 9 DCT in the NSX is supposed to be better than the 7 DCT in my car.
The modern Honda DCT also does some very fancy things, like rev-matching double and triple downshifts, fully automatically and seamlessly.
If you just want to be more involved with the car, all I can say is that I understand.
But we've reached the point already that the DCT are doing to do things faster and better than any human ever could.
I do not like paddles on the steering wheel, though. I don't do any shifting in my car because the paddles are on the steering wheel and when I am hard pressed I always shuffle steer, which puts the paddles somewhere I don't necessarily know where they are.
This is one thing Ferrari does right, pudding their oversized paddles on the steering column.

The Honda DCT are ahead of PDK, if you ask me. :-)
With the Legend (RLX Sport Hybrid) and NSX Sport Hybrid, you can rely on the electric motor to maintain momentum between shifts, so it is perceivably smoother and you don't have that jarring every time you shift a gear on a Porsche.
With the TLX four cylinder car's 8 speed DCT, the car relies on a torque converter (gasp!!) to smooth out the lower gears. This works well in traffic to keep you getting jerked around the way a PDK does. They only use the torque converter at the low speeds. It's direct connect at higher speeds.
I'm afraid I don't remember which gears of the 8 use the converter.

I do but it's a big expense. I'm torn between buying one when it's finally launched (provided I can get in line again), waiting for the type r version, or waiting and buying used.
Tough call.

Confirmed NSX-R ? Or just assumed?

I've overhead hushed whispers about an R version for some time now. Was supposed to learn more at this year's Fiesta in Japan but I'm not able to go.
I can't imagine Ted not planning on rolling one out in a few years. He's very sensitive to the NSX's history.

Man, I really don't know about the Liberty Walk versions. At certain angles, they look aggressive without straying too much from the original design.
At other angles…not so much.

Re: GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS
I guess they should be *thinking* about it, but once we see the car's capabilities, I don't think that most people who buy NSX Sport Hybrid are going to be at all interested in something to increase the track or alter the car's performance in any way...not for quite a while, anyway.
These systems are nice and balanced...people should do anything without due consideration to the consequences.
My Sport Hybrid has 430 total HP, 378 of which can be put to the ground at once. It gets to 60 in 5.3 s if you just stand on it, 4.9 s if you load it up and use the brake pedal.
20,200 miles now... Lifetime average 31.3 mpg.
We just need to leave Sport Hybrids alone, for the most part. :-)

Not that I don't agree with you GK, but this is Reality.
