Would you lend your car out to your sister and her bf ?
Here's the situation.
My Sister and Her Bf are visiting from overseas, and they need a car to use. Now my car sits in the garage 95% of the time rarely driven and highly cherished.
If I do take it out I try to be as careful about everything as possible. I just have so much money in the car and so many hours spent modifying the thing that I would hate to see something happen to it.
So my sister has come over and demands to use the car while she is here for 3 weeks, I expect my mom to back me up on not giving it to her but during a heated argument she turns around and says so why not give it to her ??
So anyways would you guys lend your car out to be driven by your sister and her bf ?
Some Facts
Her BF let me use his apt for 2 months
There both 23.
And a pic for reference

You're going to hate yourself if ANYTHING happens to the car.
I voted for no.

I have suggested a rental car and even offered to pay for it, but for some reason they wanted to use my car.
women these days the nerve.
Even my woman knows to respect my ride aka no business in the car

that alone would make me say FU, regardless if she is my sister or not.

NO WAI.
I understand it's a sticky situation, what with her being your sister, and her bf letting you use his apartment.. but we're not talking about an Accord here. She may see it as a car that sits unused, but it's a high risk for theft, vandalism, and unwanted attention. Then comes the question of where she wants to take the car, where it will be parked & for how long will it be left unattended. How is she at driving a manual? Does she know not to pull right on top of those parking chock things, and how to judge what bumps and steep angle driveways pose a problem?
It may strain your relations with your sis for a little while, but maybe ask her and your mom to consider the alternative: you let her borrow the car and it gets stolen. How will your relationship be then? Just saying.
Too risky.
edit: and her attitude sucks.. demanding? That in itself would make me say 'get bent'.

If she were nice about it then maybe. But not if she demands. AND especially not since she's having a temper tantrum.

If my sister demanded a car to use, she could use my Tacoma which is my DD. Is this ITR your DD? If so, what are you going to for a car during those 3 weeks? Give her some links to a rental car. I would offer to drive them around before I'd let them actually borrow it.

Many years ago I lent my CRX Si to my little brother when he came back to the states from being stationed in Japan, he ended up rear-ending a pickup truck at like 5 mph taking out the headlights and bending the hood.
Just wasn't paying attention, was apparently talking to his friend in the passenger seat when exiting the mall parking lot!
If you DO have to let them use it, take out a spark plug or something!

unfortunantly I have to catch a train to work, which is why I don't have a daily driver.
My car is basically weekend use only.
My car gets driven maybe 2500km a year tops

I'd rent a car for them, something on a cheap side, for a couple of weeks, you do owe them something after all.
Your R on the other hand will mostly end up damaged if not stolen , I would say beter than 90% chance...
People are not used to these kind of cars, it is fact of life (unless htey have one of their own)

F naw! sounds like you drive another car for DD since the R is sitting in the garage most of the time. Is there a DD? If there is why don't you let her use the DD and you drive the R.
edit: sorry this question was already answered above.... I must read the whole post 1st by still......HELL NAW!

sparkplug is a great idea
will it hurt the car to try and start it without the sparkplug?

I let my younger sister drive my car on numerous occassions only because i trust her and she is a good driver, i wouldnt let my twin sister next or near it though!
If its a case that you have to give it to her then pull out some fuse to bring the CEL on so that it wil only operate in safe mode with no VTEC

Re: (mugenracer)
What do you drive normally? Since you say it spends all its time in the garage that leads me to believe you have another car. Why not let them use that car and you drive the R?
