What sort of quarter mile times does a Honda Integra Type R run?
Hi guys,
I just had a burn-up with a Honda Integra Type R (Gen 1) here in my home town of Melbourne, Australia.
I was wondering what sort of times these cars run quarter mile?
And, sorry for the dumb-*** questions, but what is the difference between an Integra and an Acura? I had thought that the Acura was the US name for the Integra, but I might be wrong. From the look of the forum home page, the Acura might be the name for what we know as the NSX.
Cheers guys,
Matthew
PS, if anyone wants to know, here's what happened. I was behind him as I was driving home from work. As he changed lanes, I changed too, to try and stay with him.
It was pretty heavy traffic so it was looking as though neither of us would get a burst, but as we rounded a corner, the traffic parted leaving us a lane each. I had the choice of either tucking in behind him, or pulling up next to him. Feeling either brave or stupid, I pulled up next to him.
It wasn't without some degree of nervousness as the last time I took on one of these I got roundly pasted. But that was before I installed the Big Valve Head and 268 cams etc. and I was carrying a boot load of books.
As the lights changed to green, we both floored it. To my surprise (and great delight), I was marginally quicker, but for some reason the Honda had to change gears before me (are they six speeds?). That's one of the beautiful things about the GIAC chip's 7200rpm redline.
As a result, by the time I was in third, I was a considerable way in front and he jumped on the brakes. I did the same and hung my thumb out of the window. He pulled up alongside and said "What's in it?"
I said "A 2.8"
He said "I was surprised"
I thought to myself, "I was too."
So I gave him a friendly toot toot as I peeled off left to head home.

OIC. Thanks for that.
Great cars by the way. I've always had a soft spot for Integra Type Rs ever since they were released. It's a pity more manufacturers don't make racecars for the road, in my price bracket anyway.

I take it that you got an Audi or VW? Is it Quattro? 1nd gen ITR has close ratio 5-speed manual and has a fuel cut off around ~9k rpm.

as far as the 1/4 times go......I thought the JDM ones we're faster then the US,..but even on the "TYPE-R legend" video..both the 96spec and 98spec ran like a 14.5 or 14.6 or something close to what US ITR's run.I was told they run like 13.9's stock...weird,.I'd like to know what they run as well??
anyone?
all I know is damn i can't wait to get this Flywheel and Final Drive in...w/ the amount of noticable "KICK" I got from the J's Racing Intake....this outta be pretty damn quick for me!
Actually feels better then my 350Z.just takes higher RPM's then my Z did.

How cool is that?
What's a mugen twin loop?
I've modified the Golf a lot. It's got 2.8 litre engine stock. I've not changed the bottom end, but I've a Big Valve Head in that I imported from the US. I've also got high lift cams that breath really well up top. It's also got a Variable geometry intake - a good mod for my car, but nowhere near as sophisticated as a VTEC.
I've also got a limited slip diff and coilovers and a few other bits and pieces.
See you around!
