what is this car worth? selling my ITR
i've been off the boards and out of the market for a while.. .. so i'm looking for some opinions of what my car is worth. to ME it's worth $1,000,000... but i have to be more realistic.
here is the ad i'll be using. it gives you an idea of what's up with the car. i'll also post a couple pictures to give you a better idea. thanks guys.

resprayed? why would you think that? and yes: new motor from HMO. the old one had a problem with oil starvation, so i swapped it out.

Re: (Doostur)
Yeah, I was confused by te small pics showing the CW R and then there's a black R at the bottom. I'd say 16 to 18 if you can find the right buyer.

I don't know, something about that 3rd picture just makes the front bumper and oem body kit look like a different color from the rest of the body. I would def try to get a better picture of your car. but I would say as is wouldn't fetch you more that $13,500 after negotiations

BTW, as stated, your ad is confusing as hell.

well, that isn't my engine block, head or stereo in the ad, either. they were just for illustration purposes. most of you guys know there was no CW in 2000.
i guess i didn't really consider an oil pump "needing mechanical work", though it's true. this motor supposedly has less miles on it than the stock one would, but i see your points on that too. i swapped out the pictures for some better ones. i haven't, yet, taken pics for the ad. i only posted the above pictures so you guys can see the actual car.

If I were you, I would replace the oil pump before selling the car. You'll get back what it costs in terms of more interest in the car (which translates to a higher selling price).

i'll try. i was hoping to not work on this car ANY more. i'm short on time. but that may be easier.
also, this ad is far from done. you guys are getting a preview. i just posted up the basic info/ad to get some opinions from you guys.
i don't want to ask for a ridiculous amount of money, nor undersell the thing. thanks for all the opinions, guys.
new pics added. they are uploading as i type this out.

so i'm gonna lose $5k because my car is a year older, even with all the extra modifcations? 69k miles is pretty low, for a 2000 car, i thought ???

No,
The main reason why you will get less is that the motor is not the original one.

Modifications reduce the value, they don't add value. Unless you're so lucky that you find someone who wants exactly the mods you have and is willing to pay extra for them - and that rarely happens (because people shopping for modded cars know that they usually sell for less than bone stock ones).
As to which factor reduces the value the most - the swapped motor, the mods, the body damage - IMHO they all contribute. The mileage is about average - some cars have more than that, others less - so I don't think it adds or reduces value.
Remember, though, you can always start with a high asking price and then lower it after a while if it hasn't sold.
If it were my car, I would replace the oil pump, then probably start out with an asking price of $14,995 and hope for the best.

i see. so a stock ITR would sell for more than one with mods. i suppose i thought since they were DECENT mods (comptech vs AEM, Spoon VS *other name*). the ITR community sure is a fickle one
again, thanks for the heads up, guys. i may end up just keeping the car....

Re: what is this car worth? selling my ITR (kaj)
As far as mods go, it all depends on who the potential buyer is. An R like Wes' old R, I think his mods added some value to the car, at least to me. It has cost me more in somewhat duplicating it with my R than it would have been to buy his for 21-22K.... if he would have sold it that cheap.
I was basing yours on that it doesn't have the original block and needed some work. Seeing your new pics it does look nice. The unfortunate thing for you is that there seems to be a bunch of nice low milage R's forsale which may or may not effect your final sale price.

Oh, and I might add that you should keep the R, unless you don't have a secure place to park it. A lot of people have sold theirs only to purchase another down the road.

ha. funny. i've been thinking the same thing. my predicament is that i'm still finishing school and have a car payment. it would be WISE to sell the ITR and buy a car. no payments. i've been trying, my hardest, to keep it since January.. that's when crunch time started.
it's been very stressful.
the care gets great MPG, room for my son, etc. it's a REALLY good all-around car. but.. we never go to meets, the track, mountain drives, etc. we're all so busy. i feel like the car is wasting away
also, i live in Fresno, CA. pretty much the honda-theft capitol of the world. i think the only thing that keeps it safe is a ridiculous amount of security devices, a neighbor with a gun, and the fact that my friends and i run a local web forum.. so most people in my city know about how i protect my car.
i don't even like to go to a movie 'cause i'm afraid someone will mess with it. i borrow my mom's car that's pretty sad. oh. this car is my daily driver, so i don't have much choice in taking it places.
i do have a strange feeling that if i sell it... i'll want another. a friend of mine had one ready to buy, back in 2001, and opted for a Mustang GT, instead. to this day he regrets it.
as you can see by my ramblings, i've been thinking about this a LOT.
ha. funny. i've been thinking the same thing. my predicament is that i'm still finishing school and have a car payment. it would be WISE to sell the ITR and buy a car. no payments. i've been trying, my hardest, to keep it since January.. that's when crunch time started.
it's been very stressful.
the care gets great MPG, room for my son, etc. it's a REALLY good all-around car. but.. we never go to meets, the track, mountain drives, etc. we're all so busy. i feel like the car is wasting away
also, i live in Fresno, CA. pretty much the honda-theft capitol of the world. i think the only thing that keeps it safe is a ridiculous amount of security devices, a neighbor with a gun, and the fact that my friends and i run a local web forum.. so most people in my city know about how i protect my car.
i don't even like to go to a movie 'cause i'm afraid someone will mess with it. i borrow my mom's car that's pretty sad. oh. this car is my daily driver, so i don't have much choice in taking it places.
i do have a strange feeling that if i sell it... i'll want another. a friend of mine had one ready to buy, back in 2001, and opted for a Mustang GT, instead. to this day he regrets it.
as you can see by my ramblings, i've been thinking about this a LOT.

i see. so a stock ITR would sell for more than one with mods. i suppose i thought since they were DECENT mods (comptech vs AEM, Spoon VS *other name*). the ITR community sure is a fickle one

It's not the ITR community that is fickle, we're simply mimicking what you're going to find with any other buyer group. *Most* people don't want a car that's been modded for many different reasons. The number one of course being that most people will think a modded car was a hard-driven car. And I think most people want to do their *own* mods, not someone else's, even if it's done well like yours. But that's just my .02 cents.
...and you definitely need to take the CW pics out of your ad, it is very confusing when you start reading it.

I agree that both of those are factors driving down the value of modded cars. However, I think the number one reason modded cars are worth less than bone stock cars is that a whole lot more people want a bone stock car than a modded car. And any time you rule out a big proportion of your potential market like that, it makes it a lot tougher to find a buyer who's willing to pay any given price.

And mine.
Of course, no single individual sets the market. Cars will sell for what they will sell for. It's just that, from what I've seen from actual sales, bone stock cars sell for a lot more than modded cars. The things that are most likely to maximize the market value of a car are lack of mods, low mileage, and pristine condition, none of which applies to yours (no offense). Those are the things that make one ITR worth $16-19K and another only $11-14K.
