Can anyone exsplain how Vtec killer cams work?

I'm sure someone else will chime in with a better answer but I'll go ahead. In simple terms the eliminate the VTEC lobe and just have extreamly large primary lobes. Basically like a regular DOHC B18B. It also decreases the amount of rotational mass in the head of the engine. Once again, just my basic explaination, not trying to be exact.

I know how it elimainates Vtec, but i dont know how that is benifical and how it makes more horsepower withouth Vtec, why is it benifical to eliminate Vtec?
