Default Too Much Oil

what are some symptoms of too much oil in your engine? I have a type R and noticed that the oil was down.... So I added some oil.... fired her up.... the idle seems a little high - 1100 rpm....

Also, I dont leak oil, I dont burn oil at least no that I can tell.... but the oil must be going somewhere?

Oh... you're burning it.

If you're over the top dot on the dipstick, you'll definately burn it. To the best of my knowledge, if you open the drainplug (soas to drain excess) you'd need to replace the crush washer. Actually, at $8 for oil and $0.30 for a crush washer, just drain it and fill it to spec.

I think it will feel sluggish. I over filled mine once and it just felt kinda bogged down and hesitant at times.

The primary symptom of the oil being too high is that the level is over the top dot on the dipstick.

Remember, the two dots on the dipstick are there to show you how much it's down. The top dot is full, and the distance between the top dot and the bottom dot is one quart. So for example, if the oil level is halfway between the two dots, you should only add half a quart, not a whole quart.

To be safe, just drain what you have and refill.

Same technique, just use the drain plug. ...a lot less mess, and that's what it's for.

I wish I had the thread discussing this. It was posted about 2 yrs ago. Someone mentioned something about too much oil in the crankcase creating foam (?) or something or rather... and it causing interference. I don't remember. But I do know that the one time overfilled my car, it was sluggish until I drained it.

I think it's called windage.
...where your crank slops through the oil, creating a loss of HP.
