I'm thinking about buying a Spoon header. But I'm thinking of keeping my stock B-pipe for now. I was thinking about putting a straight pipe ( not a resonated test pipe) to replace the cat so that the Spoon header with its JDM length would match up with my USDM B-pipe.

In doing this, would the exhaust sound raspy? I'm also running a Spoon N1 muffler right now. I'm thinking this would be the easiest way to make everything work right now. But I don't want to make my car sound stupid.

Anyone running a similar setup that can help me out?

I was running a DC JDM 4-1 with a straight pipe back to a 5zigen fireball. It was LOUD AS HELL!! Very raspy tone, sounded like crap. I installed a Magnaflow 2 1/2" resonator yesterday and it is now sounding normal. The part number for the Magnaflow resonator is 10426. Brad

My question is why not just get a JDM length cat to match up to the Spoon header. It will all match up and you won't have to worry about all that pollution/noise.

Of course, you would be much better off replacing that b-pipe and axle-back as soon as you can to release the full potential off your header.

Prior to my current set-up, I had the Spoon header with a JDM length cat matched up to the stock b-pipe and a comptech axle-back. It was the proper length.

Why not a resonated testpipe? I am running one and it takes all the raspyness away.

the JDM bpipe is longer than the USDM bpipe, so I suspect that your old cat is longer than the actual jdm length cat.

so what would make difference between resonated test pipe and straight pipe?

other than the noise.

why do you prefer straight pipe even though you dont want the raspy noise?

is there reason for that?

I have JDM 4-1 DC + T1R resonated pipe + T1R B-pipe + mugen Twin loop

and it idle like stock itr exh system.(not the rpm but the tone/noise) and it is nice and loud when it gets heated up and when i push the gas hard and all other time it's very nice chilling/deep sound

and i had JDM 4-1 DC + T1R resonated pipe + T1R B-pipe + spoon n1. it was LOUD. i thought i had open header on my car it was never raspy but it was just very loud

it was really really loud even with the resonated pipe. but i have 2.5" b -pipe

how long of a t-pipe do you need for the JDM ITR header?

right now my car is using a resonated pipe that looks like it was constructed by welding two flanges on the edges of this http://shop.ivalueinternet.com...8.htm

sounds great with my exhaust, resonator in the t-pipe, resonator in the b-pipe, and muffler

When i had my car i was running JDM 4-1 header with a test pipe, straight b-pipe(no resonator) and Mugen Twin Loop muffler. Sounded great I think.
I am pretty sure i have video of it somwhere.

I just put a JDM Vibrant 4-1 with a test pipe and a Apexi N1, the larger diameter piping size, on my friends ITR last weekend. I really like the way it sounds, nice and deep during normal driving, even at WOT there is no hint of it being raspy at all, just pretty loud. I was really suprised.

i just finish installing my whole spoon set up last weekend( spoon header, t1r resonated test pipe, spoon bpipe, spoon N1) and it sounded amazing. I LOVE the sound, nice and deep, NO RASPINESS AT ALL!!

i took it for a short drive and i thought it wasnt loud at all, maybe i was too busy lovin' the gain it produced . I took it for a longer drive and i started to realize that my ears started hurting!! i turned on the radio to see if it will help.. but the exhaust sound was louder than the max volume setting . Time to put on the silencer! the silencer did help to reduce the volume to 30% less. I was suprise that it still sounded nice and deep. but you can tell that it loses power.

Well right now I have a stock header custom straight pipe and a Fujitsubo catback. It is only a little raspy at idle, its even quiter then the setup I had before. Other then a CEL its no prob.

i got jdm 4-1 headers with a jdm cat customed to a usdm tanabe superhyper medallion cat back exhaust. sounds great!!!!

So if I were to get a aftermarket cat, what is the exact lenght of one that I would need in order to fit a JDM header to a USDM b-pipe?

you will need a cat thats about 16.5" to fit a jdm header to a usdm bpipe.
