Default SMSP header owners, looking for information on modification to make it fit

Well, I'm getting ready to order my Header and Exhaust from Dave. He mentioned he has 2 different headers for my application. One is the multipiece, with less ground clearence and the other is the onepiece but requires modification to make it fit. Have any of you made this modification? What needs to be cut out? TIA

1piece:
I run no tranny to motor brace. Couldn't really even fit the gsr/b16 braces in there, header went right through the head of the front bolts. Also only running 3 of 4 bolts holding the inspection plate on.

Any ill effects on removing that brace? I intend on running solid mounts on the car, so I'm not sure if having the solid mounts will help, or hurt.

I have energy suspension inserts in the front to torsion mounts and a prothane in the rear. No issues that I've seen or heard about. Other people have been running without the ITR brace or any brace with Dave's headers for some time also.

.....there is a third option: have all 4 primaries run next to each other and get a custom made oil pan to accommodate them like T-Bone's SMS setup.

Now that sounds like a PITA, but I'd like to see pics of how he's got that done.

I'd like to see pictures. Since on the SMS... all 4 primaries DO run together... and work with stock pan.

I have the same setup as splitime and all 4 primaries DO run together and it works with my stock pan and no tranny brace. I had to slightly massage my oil pan to make it fit.

What sussy do you have, also what is the ground clearence like?

Dave says in terms of performance they are the same. The multipiece will take longer to build, and has less ground clearance.
2-3 weeks on the single piece
6-8 on the multipiece.

If you have to ask on price, you'd better take a deep breath, BUT you get what you pay for. Look on the site that lifter provided and look under the construction link. Awesome IMO.

I wasn't to put out by the price I paid for the one piece. If memory serves me it was like a hair over 800 shipped. Thats the one piece, in mild, airborne coated and the hardware/donut gasket.

Of course, I did sell my Toda for 700... so the upgrade price didn't hurt as much

Mine is the b20vtec version with larger piping. the primaries are not "quite" side by side. i had to remove the tranny brace and use the GSR flywheel cover...without the GSR braces.

two of the primaries hang about .5" below the stock oil pan. no dents yet! *fingers crossed*

Hopefully the mods will allow this.

There's a bunch being written in this thread so I just want to make sure everything is clear.

The B18C1 header can be built in either a 1 piece like Dave_B posted or a multi piece and both have the same ground clearance and look the same, but can't use the stock ITR brace. The B18C5 header is made to use the stock ITR brace and that's the one pictured by Lifter2012. The one that John Wayne posted pictures of is a completely different animal and looks like the B18C5 header but can't use the ITR brace. At this time the B18C1 and B19 are the only ones offer in a 1 piece.
