Default Skunk2 high compression valves question

how much higher do they raise compression? Im actually thinking of picking those up for my motor project. compression will be at 11.5:1 without the high compression ones.

TIA

I never heard of valves raising compression of the engine.
Are you sure they don't mean that these valves are for use in higher compression engine ?

They do make valves to raise the compression... the only raise is it up between .2-.4... there flat and nitride coated...

If your at 11.5:1 now, that should be good seeing that you live in cali... the higher the compression, the higher octane you will have to use... dont you guys only have 91 octane out there?

91 octane only...and yes, mid 12:1 is fine with tuning on the 91 octane.

piston to valve clearance must be something you have nightmares about with these "high compression" valves....I would imagine that you are not being cavalier and will be checking your clearances after install. Obviously this has never been "just a bolt on" affair.

TRUE, but how safe will it be? And how will timing(etc)effect peformance?

yea i dont want to raise it too high since us cali folk are jipped on octane

i guess i'll stick with the normal skunk2 valves.

Why not stick with stock ITR valves?

Stock valves are best.

I don't see why these high comp valves would go any deeper than stock valves. It seems to me they simply took the curviture out of the bottom of the valve and made it flat. I would think the depth around the edge of the stock ones would be the same as the Skunk2 ones.

If you dont grind the valve seats and set the valve seat depth properly you
can run into issues with valve spring binding as well as piston-valve contact.
Needless to say that these valves are still heavier than stock and the performance
per dollar ratio isnt that good.

that was actually in consideration too. now that the high compression ones are out of the picture, i may end up going with that.

anyone know whee i can get some ITR ons for a good price?
