Revisit - what's your gas mileage on your ITR?
Did a search and find a posting for the same question about a year ago.
So, just wonder, what's your gas mileage on your ITR? in simple term, how many miles can you go with 1 tank of gas?
I just did my 48K km services and realize my gas mileage somewhat improved. Normal city driving (vtec once in awhile) it's about 430-450 km per tank but after the services it went up to 470 km (well, big part of this tank is highway travel)
just wonder how many miles do you get from your R. In general, would gas comsumption gets better/worse as the mileage goes up?
FYI, 1 mile ~= 1.6 km

I get around 260 with daily VTEC dose (nothing drastic) and it is on the verge of having the gas light go off. usually fill up and it goes to 9.6 gallons.

Im lucky if I get 200 miles from a tank...running very rich right now and my bumper is black after each tank full. that will soon be changing though

Worse mileage as of late:
tanks while at Watkins Glen = 11.99mpg and 12.76mpg

Same here. Once I went 310 or so miles b/c I was on 40 and didn't see any gas stations. Then it filled up to about 11.5 gal. I think the manual says the tank is 14 or 15 gals but I'm not chancing it.

27-30mpg lately in the mountain roads that I drive, heavy footed it goes down to ~24mpg, I'll be doing a road trip in ~2 weeks, so I'll keep track of what a long flat road will yeild.

27-30 mpg (28.5 average over the last two months) of highway and daily commute driving. Thats with I/H/E and test pipe (too lazy to put the cat back on, i should do that), untuned.
Worst gas mileage - 10 mpg at Gingerman (april), 12 mpg at Expo, 9 mpg at gingerman in june.

I have had 375 miles a few times on 10-10.5 gallons of gas. That is highway driving, rarely if ever touching the gas between stops... just a constant 80-90mph in boring illinois, indiana, kentucky, tennessee, etc.

Re: Revisit - what's your gas mileage on your ITR? (tsunami_zc)
I used to get around 27-29 mpg stock. I have a supercharger now, but the mpg didn't drop that much. In fact, if I didn't drive it so much harder I think I would still get about the same mileage. I also have a new I/H/E. Shouldn't a freer- flowing exhaust IMPROVE gas mileage?

That's me, too. Of course, it drops to 20-21mpg and 23-24mpg in the summer since the A/C is always on...
What can I say? Some comfort is important to me...

babying the engine is going to make it somehow better or even last longer.... IF it is taken care of that is.

Re: Revisit - what's your gas mileage on your ITR?
Babying the motor like that is actually pretty bad for it.
It's a great way to build up carbon deposits in the combustion chambers and accumulate water in the exhaust system. No motor should be treated that way.
My Acura tech friend told me about a GS-R owned by a little old lady. Thing had 80,000 or so on the clock, and she never once used the big lobes. He had to disassemble the head and clean out the rocker arms so VTEC would engage.
